I'm interested in renting a house for a week, but all the sites I've tried say "contact owner for details", and I really just want an idea of what kind of price it would be. We're thinking of sharing with another family, so we'd be looking for a 4 or 5 bedroom with a pool. The Windsor Palms looks like a nice resort (we've stayed at Cypress Pointe & Orange Lake in condos).

Can anyone give me an idea on price for early Jan (not New Year's)? Am I looking at $100, $200, $300 or more per night?

TIA!

Honestly, it depends on the home, the resort, the size of the home, and the season you're going, but Jan is low season.

Typically 150-250 a night would be typical. The good owner websites will have the price listed right on the website for you to see, keep looking!

And do checkout Windsor Hills too! :)

Price's for a rental home are all over the place really you say 100, 200, 300, I say any of those could be it.

I think you need to set what you want in a home and determine what you are willing to spend for it. I think there are some gen. thoughts on renting. The closer to the park and the more amenities that resort has the higher the price except when people are new owners and are looking for bookings they will gen. be more generous.

They are all individually owned so you can ask if that is there best price? Some might just bend it can not hurt to ask.

Sites like vrbo.com and homeaway.com usually have the price listed. You may be able to get a better deal from the owner according to the time of year you go. The price also depends on how close you are to Disney. The closer the more expensive usually ( not always ). On the above websites click on the developments in Kissimmee if you want close to Disney. If it doesn't matter, there are lots in Davenport and Clermont that would be 20 min or so from Disney. For example on vrbo in the Davenport area in Lake Wilson Preserve a 5 bedroom home for Jan is $765 tax included per week and $150 for pool heat wk.

It's not a resort developement just has pool homes. The resort developements are Windsor Hills and Palms, Emerald Island, Terra Verde, Weston Hills, and a few others. These all have community pools, clubhouses etc.
If you want to be close to Disney, Windsor Hills is the closest and newest. We've stayed there twice and love it. Windsor Palms and Em Is are close also.

The houses I looked into (4-6 bedrooms) were all roughly in the area of $125-$200 a night depending on amentities. If you see some you like and there's no price listed, just drop the owner an email and ask. Most people answered me very quickly and with a "standard" reply which took care of most of my usual questions, including price. However, be aware that sometimes you are not emailing the owner but a management company who will send you info on various similar homes they have available, not necessarily the specific home you see on-line.

:)

Try Alexander homes at www.floridasunshine.com We have used this place before and had great service. They have houses and condos allover and there deposit and down payment policy is better than most places.

There are areas in Davenport (Champions Gate area for one) that are very close to Disney.....(not 20 minutes, more like 10 to 15). There are different prices depending on size and amenities but most in this area are 100 to 175 per night.

Thank you to everyone! You've given me lots of great info to research. I'm excited about the idea: I'd love to have my whole family go & stay together (5 adults & 5 kids).

I went out for the day & came home to find great responses. I've already looked at a couple of the suggestions & found some pricing, so now it's just doing some detailed research.

Thanks again! You guys are great!

If you are going to have ten people going make sure you find a home that has 10 beds. Unless you want to have someone sleeping on a pull out couch or fold away bed.
The fold aways are not bad for kids but as an adult I would not want to sleep on a fold away bed.
That being said the 4 bed home usually sleep 10 with a pull out sofa or fold away beds. You may want to consider a 5 bed or 6 bed home for the comfort of everyone having their own beds.

Have a great time picking a home if you wanted to see some in Indian Creek

I'm staying at a 4 bedroom in Windsor Palms and it only sleeps 8 so look carefully for occupancy limits.
