It's almost time for me to make my dinner reservations and I need help. I'm familiar with dining in DL but not Downtown Disney and I would like to know about both of these restaurants.

1. Do they play music while we eat (that's what I want)

2. How are the prices? expensive?

3. Which one has better food?

4. If you could only go to one which one would you choose?

If they're rather expensive I'm only going to make reservations at one place but if they're not bad I'll make for both. I'm going to be meeting with my dad and step mom and they're on a budget but would like some good tunes while we eat.

I asked my dad which one he would rather and knowing nothing about either he said house of blues because I assume he thinks they play blues music...do they? Thanks guys :thumbsup2

I have never tried the house of blues but have eaten at the jazz kitchen and going back for a second time. I split a plate so as far as cost wise it wasn't bad. I usually split a plate no matter where I go that way I have room for snacks especially this time going concierge. I thought the food was excellent, we had the salmon, Mmmm Mmm good :thumbsup2

We just had dinner at the House of Blues last Sunday!
I can't really remember if they play music - we met some friends, and so talked throughout the whole meal! If they did play music, it wasn't too loud or distracting!
The prices at the House of Blues aren't bad at all! I had a steak salad, which had a great cilantro ranch salad dressing - it was maybe $10.00. One friend had rice and beans meal - $15.00, husband had ribs - BIG!!! I can't remember the price, but he said they were really good! Definitely big enough to split! Both sons had the cajun shrimp appetizer - one loved it, one hated it. We also had the fried artichoke hearts - nummy, and someone ordered the calamari - not bad, but far from the best we have ever had!
Service wasn't bad, but not great. We were there early - at 5:00 pm - so the place wasn't packed, but service could have been a lot faster! We needed to ask at least twice for anything that we wanted!
We would definitely go there again! VERY casual atmosphere, but fun!
We also went to the Jazz Kitchen Express. Son ordered chicken strips, and couldn't figure out what was *wrong* with them...I tasted them and it was REAL chicken!! Kids are used to prefab McNuggets and such. These were real chicken, and by far the best I have ever tasted! Not too much coating, and not greasy at all!
My second choice (behind House of Blues) was the Jazz Kitchen - I would definitely like to try that next time!

HOB doesn't really play authentic blues music, they play more rock and other stuff, and mainly current music.
