Has anyone ever used them and if so, have you ever had any problems? I was thinking about using them for a car rental.

I've never used them for a car rental, but have rented hotel rooms through them many times. I've never had a problem.

if you can get a good rate without having to pay upfront ...they are good

however, most of the time you are locked into paying for the reservation at time of booking which does not help when you find a better rate

if you can get one without having to "pay upfront" they are good...it sometimes happens and they even tell you the rental company...it is the only way I would use Hotwire

but usually you have to pay when you book and you are bidding blindly as to car company

thus if a better rate comes alone you are "locked" in
