Kings Inn, Alpine Inn, and Eden Roc. Like DLgal said, the rates can vary a lot when there’s a convention. But typically, these are more budget friendly. Have a fun trip!
Not sure what range budget will mean, and we've not stayed at the Candy Cane Inn since the remodel and I think prices went up, but Candy Cane could be a nice way to split the difference if you are wanting the convention center and also plan on Disneyland.
You have to your homework as "budget friendly" will vary wildly depending on dates and conventions. The Marriott can be one of the cheapest or one of the most expensive depending on demand.
Avoid the Clarion...absolute dump IMO and would never stay there again
How far of a walk is it to the Convention Center if staying at one of the hotels on the corner of Katella/Harbor like Hyatt House or Candy Cane? Looks pretty close on a map (like 5 minute walk) but I can't tell where you might enter the Convention so no idea if you have to loop around a long ways or something. Thanks!
Marriott is also one of the most expensive during convention dates. There are great deals to be had on off nights for parks stays if you don't mind the hike but if there is a convention, rates shoot up.
For Convention Center based business we book the Marriott for site visits and pre-event dates but if there is an actual event scheduled we typically wind up booking the Residence Inn or Springhill Suites right there on the corner since the Marriott jacks their rates so high to for that business client that is typically staying on the corporate dime.

I'd say it's more like 10 at a leisurely pace. Equidistant to the parks. Entrance is right there off Katella. You might have to walk a minute more depending on what park of the convention center you go to.

From any hotel on the corner of Katella and Harbor, its no more than a 5 minute walk. And a lot of that might be waiting for the crosswalk signal to change over. It's literally a 2 block walk.

According to Google Maps, it's an 11 minute walk to Disneyland entrance and 8 minutes to the convention center , as has been my experience . So I guess you are right, if you want to split hairs like that.
