Hi

What hotel buying guides (like priceline) have people used to get their hotel for the Cocoa Beach area? I've tried Priceline, and unfortunately underbid, so I have to wait 72 hrs to try again.

Hotwire quoted me a low rate of $120 (!!)

Our problem might be that we're looking to travel April 6th which I believe is spring break for a lot of schools and we might be fighting spring breakers for hotel rooms.

Looking forward to our first cruise.

I have only used those two sites for the Orlando Airport area, but I have learned that persistence is the key. I have gotten great deals both a couple of months in advance and only a week or two in advance. I LOVE Priceline and Hotwire...since 9/11, we try to fly in the night before whenever possible, and they made it a lot more affordable (typically $28 to $33).

There's a Space Shuttle launch scheduled for April 4. That always drives the hotel prices up, or at least it always causes the elimination of the usual discounts.

Thanks Dave

Are you on the 4/6 Magic?

It makes more sense, now as I've always gotten great deals on Priceline before

take it easy...

No, I was just playing a hunch. I once tried to use Priceline for a hotel in Las Vegas. Couldn't get anything. And even the Motel 6 was charging $150/night. It wasn't until I arrived in town that I realized there was a NASCAR race there that weekend.

So, I looked at the schedule for upcoming launches...

Bingo! Suspicion confirmed.

Try Expedia though. Even though nothing cheap's coming up on Hotwire or Priceline, there are still some cheap hotels available if you book their asking price (as low as $60).
