Help please, this year we will venturing out of Disney again for two nights, the main purpose being a day at Universal Studios and a night at Margaritaville. We did three nights last year at The DoubleTree at Universal and liked it there very much, but would like to try something new. However, I try I can't make one of the Universal Hotels meet our budget :lmao:
Anyone have any suggestions on hotels near to Universal, I trawled the internet for most of yesterday evening, and now they are all starting to look the same - I have no idea why I am being so picky it is only for two nights :)

I've booked to stay for a week at the Sheraton Four Points (formerly Sheraton Studio City) next year, it's a ten minute stroll away from Universal (or a two minute cab ride if you're American!). We stayed at the Red Horse Inn a couple of years back which is next door, and when Hurricane Jeanne hit we spent some time using the Sheraton's facilities, the staff there were so helpful and the Hotel looked very nice.

It get's the usual mixed bag of comments on tripadvisor, but good reports in the main. It'd certainly be hard to beat as far as location goes, I'm hoping for a high floor Universal view!

Thank you, Ian liked the look of this one yeterday, I will take another look, the dreaded trip advisor, I spent so much time on there yesterday, my eyes crossed :lmao:

What dates are you looking at, Jules, or are you flexible within your overall stay? What would be your ideal price range?

Hi Deb - we want to check in on 19th December and check out on the 21st, so two nights, I wish I could come up with an ideal price range, I keep changing my mind, The DoubleTree where we stayed last year is coming in at $300 for the two nights, as is the Fairfield Inn ... I have driven myself nuts with Trip Advisor, I wish I could just take peoples reviews with a pinch of salt. We stayed in a dreadful Red Roof Inn which we got cheaply years ago, and I think that whole experience has left me paranoid about the unkown - I need to get a grip :lmao:

Jules, Hotelopia is coming in at £239 for your dates (£119.50 per night). Now, I know that's quite a bit more than your $300 budget for the two nights, but it is Christmas and I really don't think you'd regret spending the extra £80-£90. Also, it's considerably less than booking direct. It's got to be worth it for FOTL and a 10 minute walk to Margaritaville, surely? :rotfl:

ooh Deb, that is a very good price, I have never heard of hotelopia before - thank you

You don't read many of my posts then:rotfl2: I feel like every day I am posting another deal for someone with Hotelopia. They are owned by Tui so a good company. Use code 170470 and that will reduce it by 10% also book via Quidco for another 10% off. If their webrate is £239 price you actually pay is £193.59 Unless you are creating a new Quidco Account then they take the 1st £5 so it would cost you £198.59.

If you wanted to stick to a lower priced hotel the Sheraton PudseyChancer mentioned is £88 for 2 nights after discount code and cashback £71.28

There is also Hawthorn Suites Universal OrlandoAddress 7601 CANADA AVENUE, within walking distance which is a suite and includes breakfast £109 or £88.29 again after discounts.

Don't know this one myself but its says within walking distance Hyatt Place Orlando Universal £153 (£123.93)

more thank yous Wayne, I do indeed read many of your posts, but with the DVC I am rarely looking for a hotel. This is great information - thanks so much

The Universal hotels have had some awesome "Super Saver" rates recently. Head over to the Universal Resorts board for some tips. There are AAA rates as well if you're an AA member. We've got a HRH club level room for $340/night with the annual pass discount, but there were regular garden view rooms for under $230/night which is a bargain (...and this is peak season summer). I expect many of the discounts for your dates won't be released until later in the year, but do keep a look out. The Universal hotels are wonderful and the FOTL access is truly invaluable, especially in the peak season! It's so worth the extra $$$ :goodvibes
