We are staying at the Marriott Residence Inn Cocoa Beach the night before our cruise. I called last night to see if there was a shuttle from the hotel to the terminal which there is. The girl I talked to explained that they shuttle leaves at 11:15 and something about a deal between the hotel and DCL where you can start the boarding process right away.. I'm confused. Can anyone shed light on this for me?

Not the boarding process but maybe the arrival into the port terminal. (Many people mistake port arrival time for boarding time.) There may be a deal if you arrive by hotel shuttle, they won't make you wait for your port arrival time to enter the port terminal so you can begin the Check-In process immediately. But if you have a later port arrival time, the boarding group number you receive will be higher since it is tied to your port arrival time.

Like the PP stated, it might get you into the terminal earlier. But, the time you actually board is tied to your reservation and the time you requested to arrive at the terminal in your on-line check in.

It is a percieved perk, by the hotels design.

I had heard about this from another DISer. My understanding is that you will be allowed into the terminal whenever you arrive, however, you will not be able to board until your boarding number is called. This would work well if you have an early PAT and a lower boarding # but if you have a later PAT you will have to wait for it to be called. This is NOT my personal experience but only what I have heard. :)

Thanks! According to the website, it appears my online check-in starts mid June. I can't do the check-in before this date can I?

To the OP, does the Marriot offer a shuttle from the airport to the hotel as well? We are looking for a place to stay the night before we sail.

I don't know about the airport. From hotel to terminal is $6 roundtrip/pp.

No, the port is 45 miles away from the airport so very few (I heard of one) hotels near the airport offer shuttles to the port area. As I mentioned there was one hotel near the airport that had a stay and shuttle package but I forget which hotel it was. Your options for transportation from MCO to a port area hotel are a private car service/limo or a rental car. Taxis would be cost prohibitive because of the distance.

We have stayed at the MRI at the port several times...it is out go to hotel and we prefered it much better than the Country Inn and Suites.

MRI is a great hotel.

Google Fly Snooze and Cruise. There is a hotel, I believe it was Comfort Inn at Cocoa Beach that offers a nice package. Please note that I have not used it yet but found it during my pre cruise research. Hope this helps!

We actually just stayed there a week ago and they do have one large bus that takes everyone to the port from the hotel at 11:15am for $3.00 a person. If they have lots of people, they arrange more than one bus. We got to the port around 11:25 and checked in right away. We did a 11-11:30 check in and we ended up boarding right away. I think we were group #4. Our friends also with us, had a 1:30 check in and they were on the ship about 1 hr after us. They were group #25 but it does go fast. I thought the hotel worked out great for us.

Thanks for the update! So when you did your on-line check-in, what time were you given?
