Looking for a hotel that is near entrance that offers free breakfast for our family of 4 for trip early January 2017 that will be under $150 a night....

Depending on dates in January, value resorts on property are under $150 a night then usually. I know you're asking about offsite and free breakfast, but maybe if the room was enough under budget, breakfast money could be worked into that cost, either by onsite dining or grocery delivery to your room.
I'm not an offsite expert, but I bet you'll get some great responses more inline with your question...but I clicked your thread instead of another, and thought I'd offer up my two cents :-):-)

Have fun planning, and I hope you find exactly what you're looking for!!

Will you have a car and will you park or are you planning to take a shuttle/taxi. I think parking is now $20 per day.

In case you are unfamiliar, Walt Disney World is 47 square miles with multiple entrances off of various roadways. Generally, when hotels advertise things like "1 mile from Disney", they mean they are 1 mile from the edge of Disney property. Depending upon where your final destination is, you might still have a 10-15 minute drive once you are on Disney property.

yes we will have a rental car and I do realize that the property is large.

Maybe put your dates into Orbitz and it would help you narrow down your search.

Check with Mousesavers, Buena Vista Suites, Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, Springhill Suites, StayBridge Suites ...

I probably should have looked at your post count before writing my response. Obviously, with over 1,100 posts, you are familiar with WDW.

Perhaps someone else who is unfamiliar will stumble on this thread. Growing up in Southern California, my family went to Disneyland many times. When we went to Disney World for the first time, we got "tricked" by a hotel that said they were less than a mile to WDW. We were expecting to be a stone's throw from Disney, like we would have been by Disneyland.

I like HopperFan's suggestion. I'm a big fan of the DoubleTree Suites Lake Buena Vista. (I had a great stay there about 2 weeks ago.) Mousesavers has a promo that includes a free continental breakfast. Be sure to check that out when pricing your trip.

You can get some great rates at the Hotel Plaza Blvd hotels. Love the Doubletree Suites. You also might consider one of the Embassy Suites in that area, LBV and LBV South.
If you are not already join Hilton Honors, it is free to join and you get great special rates. I stayed at the Hilton LBV for $89 per night a couple weekends ago.

And Embassy breakfasts are great. We fill up, grab an apple for the backpack and usually can do with just one more meal - a late lunch/early dinner. Paying for ow meal a day is great for the budget.

We stayed at the Embassy suites LBV 15 yrs ago for our Honeymoon and loved it... Just trying to hold out on lower prices there or somewhere else... What's the likelihood that happen?

ES LBV had a major renovation about a year or so ago with lots spent on pool/activities. They now have a resort fee ($20) and parking fee ($12). Factor that in to any special deals you come across. We stopped staying since we don't use the outdoor perks. We love EB LBV South. Newer. Stayed quite a few times, no fees at all. Rate has a wide range so depending on your dates and if they have conferences (center attached) you may or may not be on/under budget.

We have stayed at Buena Vista Suites several times. It is all suites, so you get a "living room", then bathroom, and then the bedroom. Depending on what you reserve, you can get either one king or two queens. Both have a pull out sofa in the living room area. We got upgraded to a Deluxe King room once (we were only there for a night before a cruise), and that tub is HUGE!!! They have a decent free hot breakfast every morning. Mousesavers usually has a code for a decent price. I have seen it from $80-120 and sometimes they have stay one night, get the second for $70. They do have a resort fee that is $10 a night.
