Hotels near Miami

We'll be driving down to Miami the day before our cruise instead of flying, so there seems to be little point in paying $400+ for a hotel downtown when hotels on the outskirts of the city are hundreds of dollars cheaper. Does anyone have recommendations for pre-cruise hotels in the greater Miami area? Preferably with rooms that have 2 queen beds or one queen/king and a sofa bed (I'm 6' 3" and both my wife and I are on the wider side, so we really don't fit together in double beds, and our daughter will want her own bed if possible).

I liked the Hampton Inn at Blue Lagoon...free shuttle from the airport, clean, friendly staff, free breakfast and they arranged a $10 (2013) shuttle to the port. Grocery and drug stores across the street and a few fast food restaurants near as well.
