Hotels closest to the entrance?

Which hotels are closest to the entrance? If I can get a good deal, I'd stay at one of those over the Disney Hotels, just to save money. The caveat is that I'm going to have an ECV and probably no car (I'm not into driving in LA) so I want something close so I can just ride the ECV there and back every day. Thanks!

Oh and I'm probably going the end of January.

Tropicana, Best Western Park Place Inn, Carousel....that's what comes to mind straight away! Would be super-easy for you. Come out of the motel area, get to crosswalk, cross, go to bag check! Practically a straight shot for you.

Desert Inn and Suites is another hotel that is really close to the crossing!

As far as the closest I would say park vue inn. Directly across harbor on the other side of the cross walk.

Having said this... I would not recommend them. We had some issues with them when they refused to take the wheelchair that Deckert's medical supply was dropping off for us. So when we arrived ready to go to Disneyland, we had no wheelchair for my mother! I had called Mr Deckert and he explained to me that they refused to watch it until we arrived. He said that he works with almost all of the hotels in the area and that has never happened to him. He was quite upset as well, having to come back out to bring it out to us. I felt so bad for him and having to waste his time because some inconsiderate non customer service oriented motel manager would not cooperate.


We had plenty of other issues as well, but that just started the trip off bad.

Stay there if u need to because it is close, but I would recommend against it. I would try the hojo.... not too much farther down the road.

Well obviously the closest is the Grand Californian, but if you're looking for offsite, the closest are:

1. Best Western Park Place Inn
2. Tropicana Inn/Park Vue Inn
3. Carousel Inn/Anaheim Camelot Inn
4. Del Sol/Desert Inn

If you're going into DL, not DCA, then that is:

Completely dependent on what stinkin' far away ridiculously far away omg how much longer IS this hallway oh no there's another hallway room you're in.

Not to mention that the bag check lines on the Harbor side have always been much quicker to get through than the DTD side! In my experience, as long as you're not trying to enter from Harbor at, say, 11am. (the earlier the better)

Desert Inn & Suites has my vote. We've stayed there many times (will be there again in 2 more days!) and it's right near the crosswalk on Harbor. I've also never been able to beat the price. It includes free parking, fridge, safe, microwave, breakfast and has on site laundry.

I'd like a hotel review as well.

I'd also like to know where people find these great rates for hotels other than Hojo's. hojo's is the only one where I can ever find a good rate! And it's usually a prepay, where I have to pay in full now and can't get my money back if I cancel. I know July is peak, but the last few years I haven't seen any good rates for Carousel, Camelot, etc.

Am also curious about the other hotels, the other direction (not Hojo's direction), that second Best Western and the Ramada. It seems we just don't hear about those hotels down at that end of the block. I wonder why?

I always go straight to the DI&S website and check availability. When I get a rate, I then compare it with other surrounding hotels. I have a family of 6 and have never found another hotel to beat my rate at DI&S. Mainly because I would have to book 2 rooms at a hotel without suites because we have more than 5 people. On the rare occasion that I've found a better room rate, once I factored in parking fees and losing the free breakfast, we wouldn't have come out ahead.

I also look at other booking sites, like priceline etc. If/when I ever find a better rate for DI&S, I simply call them and they honor it. That's only happened once though and it was a long time ago.

Usually, my rate for DI&S is anywhere from $189-$219 per night for a C2 suite. I've never paid more than $219 and we are almost always there over a weekend when rates are highest. It's their largest room, has 5 beds including the sofa bed and 2 full baths.

We had a great experience here in Dec 09 - they accepted groceries for us and a car seat being delivered from the airline after it was 'misplaced'.

Tripadvisor. At least, that's where I got my great rate for Carousel last Sept. Tripadvisor will look for rates on numerous web sites. I got my rate ($65 for single queen) from bookit.com, which I found on Tripadvisor (didn't know it existed before then).

I have ressies for this place in August for the 6 of us. We need to baths since the girls seem to go slower than the guys in the AM. Little leary of this based on reviews over the past couple of years.

Glad to see this! We're staying there at the end of March. I figure the price is okay considering it's the week before Easter. We're paying a little over $800 for seven days and are looking forward to being closer than the Disneyland Hotel.

Nice post to know some details about the hotels. This posts help people to know the best hotels and the rates which helps people to know before about the location, services, rates and so many. The main preference of the hotels is to please the customers. Because, customers are the king for any type of hotel. If the customers are happy, the hotel will run and if not it has to be closed.

Thanks everyone. I'm trying to figure out which hotel will work best. I'm looking at the end of April for my next trip. I really wish I could do Grand Californian, but holy cow! So expensive! Even PPH is out of my league because of the Food and Wine Fest. So, needless to say, I should have gone in January when I had the chance... sigh.

We like to stay at the BW Park Place Inn or BW Anaheim Inn--we book through the BW rewards site and the price is always at least $30 less than they quote over the phone.
