Anyone know of any cheap (but nice) hotels within walking distance of Gatwicks south terminal?

Many thanks! :)

Has it got to be walking distance? The reason I ask is that we stayed in four seasons guest house last year and this and the price did not alter, breakfast is also included. A triple room and parking for 2 weeks was £105.00. The owner takes you into Gatwick and you get a taxi back, cost us £7.00. We actually parked for 15 days but no extra charge.

Very welcoming and clean, tidy room. We also has tea and coffee in the room and chocolate snacks. We were so impressed we would use it every time.:thumbsup2

Sounds v.nice! :thumbsup2

The main reason we wanted it to be within walking distance is so we could do the check in the night before without haveing to worry about extra costs of taxis or transfers.

The only hotel within walking distance as far as I know is the Hilton which is linked to the terminal by a walkway. It certainly isn't cheap but you can pick up some reasonable deals depending on the time of the year. We have always found it to be worth it for the convenience of not having to transfer to the airport (especially if you are using twilight check in).

Due to the lay out of Gatwick there are no off site hotels within walking distance. The two hotels at the airport Sofitel at North and Hilton at South are both quite pricey, weekends can be cheaper though as not used by business people so much then.

As said, the only hotels within walking distance of the South Terminal are the Hilton (connected via covered walkway to the South Terminal) and the Sofitel (monorail from North to South terminal). Rates can be quite high, but people have got decent deals from Holiday Extras and the like. If you are a Hilton HHonors member, you may be able to use miles for the room, or get a discount using miles.

We used the Hilton and it was £105 room only but oh so worth the money!

We used twilight check in and had dinner at the terminal (Frankie & Bennys). It is the most relaxed I have ever been walking into an airport...

We have booked the premier travel inn described as Gatwick Central and I have heard that it is within walking disntance of the north terminal. Our intention is to do twilight too and the review on trip advisor say that it is walkable without luggage. You would have to take the minorial link between the terminals though.

Thanks for the link, certainly is the cheapest I have seen so far and 5 mins walk is nothing really. Any idea how long the monorail takes to run to each terminal?

Thanks for all the replies people! :thumbsup2

It has been a while since I have used the monorail but it just runs backwards and forwards on the same track (think there are in fact two?) so 10-15 mins max I would say. Bit like the one at MCO.

Back to Four Seasons. We also did the twilight check in. We drove from S. Wales straight to Gatwick, checked in then onto the hotel. We then had a meal at the local pub and then a good breakfast the next morning without having to worry about getting up early. The check in took literally half an hour and that included parking the car and finding our way to the check in. Well worth doing this. The parking was only a couple of £'s and the hotel is 5 minutes drive from Gatwick.:thumbsup2
