I'm looking for the cheapest possible for our family of 5, prefer 1 room, but if cheaper to get 2 then I will. What are my best options? Deluxe, value suite, swan, dolphin?

If you want Disney resorts, then I think either two values or the suites at All Star Music would be the least expensive.

I am not sure of the rates at Swan or Dolphin--they may be less expensive but are not Disney resorts.

Least expensive first:
- one room at Port Orleans Riverside
- two value rooms (but possible you will not get connecting rooms)
- value suite
- cabin at Ft. Wilderness
- one room at a deluxe that sleeps 5

- Dolphin allows 5 (Swan does not). The price will depend on what discounts you may qualify for (nurse, teacher, etc)

The dolphin gives discounts to nurses? Do they give to all medical personnel?

POR still has rooms that will sleep 5. One person has to sleep on a trundle bed. I believe the trundle is recommended for under 12.

Our family of 5 recently stayed at the Dolphin. It was very nice and the cost was comparable with POR even with the resort and parking fee. The pool was very nice and walking distance to Epcot and HS (or boat ride) cannot be beat. Also very close to the Boardwalk which we enjoyed. Dolphin rooms were larger than POR rooms. We usually bring a small inflatable bed and there was plenty of room for it. We did not even have to move any furniture to accommodate the bed or pick it up during the day.

You can find very good rates for the Dolphin if your dates are flexible, I know there were dates in August for $139/nite. We did not qualify for extra discounts, this rate was available to everyone.

Deluxe rooms will accommodate five but they are very expensive.

Your other choice on site is the family suites. You can find pretty good deals if your dates are flexible but when we went they were quite a bit more expensive than the rate we paid for the Dolphin.

I thought POR no longer has the trundle bed to fit 5?
No trundle bed.. but Murphy bed.. It's a pull down bed. I believe the renovation is completely done. They have the two queens now and the Murphy bed. You can only find the Murphy bed in the Alligator Bayou section.

I read on the Official Disney site that it will sleep a child under 9.

You could look into renting points from a DVC member and getting a 1BR that can sleep up to five. I'm not really sure how that would compare cost wise to two values, but would likely be more than POR. I have friends that always stayed in POR - AB section for their family of five - but the boys outgrew the trundle bed. They now stay at a suites hotel in DD and say that works well for their family.

we like two connecting rooms at POP or Music if we have five adults even with four is nice to ahve the extra room. and bath and we do not like the suites they nice but adults do not want to sleep on a sofa bed. and they way more expensive for a suite

I wouldn't call it a murphy bed either. I also don't see how any one over 6 would be comfortable sleeping in this. Also makes it kinda hard to watch TV in bed.:rotfl:

My girls, who were 4 and 7 (almost 5 and 8) loved the Murphy bed. Then had to take turns sleeping on it every other night because both wanted to!

Yes, if you read through the POR thread on here & POR pics on Resort pics board there are loads of really positive reports about the murphy bed :)

You can get more info on the murphy beds at POR on the POR thread. Be sure to check out page 1 first. I believe I read children over 9 have slept on it with no problem. Guess it depends on the size. I think someone posted pics of their child on it.

We actually had this situation last year. After all my pricing (since we went during free dining) it was cheapest for us to go to POR and as we do not spend a lot of time in the room it worked out great. We were the first in a room that had been renovated and the murphy bed was great!

Hi! I'm a long time lurker who has stayed a lot on property.

Last time my family ran into this situation, we were able to stay at one of the All Star resorts and get a roll away bed. It's not an option online, but you can always call and see if it is still available! Hopefully they still offer it. We did it a few years ago, right after they started offering the family suites.

They will not book 5 in a studio unless one is under 3. You may have gotten it because the family suites had an overbooking issue.

POR depending on the ages of the group would be your best option.

Unfortunately, this is not an option to ask for and "they do not offer it."

They obviously overbooked and were able to do this, because NO ONE else in the entire building exceeded the room occupancy. They were obviously in a real bind and fully booked everywhere.

To be clear, room occupancies are set by fire codes. Had there been an emergency, if something had happened, Disney would have had to suck it up and carried the liability. You would have not been held at fault.

I did NOT read all of the posts but what about the Art of Animation? It's a Value but it's brand new and sleeps up to 6.

We were going to consider it but we want the free dining and the Value resorts only offer the Quick Service dining, so we are going with a Moderate hotel (2 rooms) this time.

cheaper to get 2 standard value rooms than it is the suite. A regular room at POR is still cheaper than AoA for 5
