Okay, so somebody busted my bubble about the CCI. I have found cheaper rates at some of the other Good Neighbor hotels, but I'm just not sure about them, either. I want something within very close walking distance to the parks, I either have to have a large suite or 2 connecting rooms (3 adults, 3 children) with some privacy, nice continental breakfast, heated or indoor pool would be great MUST have jacuzzi/hot tub, free wireless internet would be a plus, refrig would be great, micro cool but not a deal breaker.

I've also looked at:

Cortona Inn and Suites
LaQuinta Inn and Suites and
Portofino Inn and Suites

The BWPPI is not available for our dates.

What were you told about CCI? People here tend to love them!

CCI has been the #1 rated hotel in Anaheim on tripadvisor for the last couple years. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be happy there.

The one and only reason I havent' stayed there personally is because we are perfectly happy with our HoJo ent rates.

None of the other choices you listed even come close to getting the good reviews CCI does. However, if space is an issue for you, then have you considered Residence Inn Maingate?

I've never stayed at the CCI, but always wanted to. I've heard nothing but great things about it. It could be spendy though if you need 2 rooms...is that why you're looking for other accomodations?

You listed an indoor swimming pool, suites or connecting rooms, close walking distance to the parks and fridge. Give a look-see at Desert Inn & Suites. From what I understand...their Continental breakfast is nothing to write home about, but it's free. I'm pretty sure they have a jacuzzi too. It's nothing fancy, but most people who stay there find it clean and comfortable.

try dessert inn they have the hot tub bath. and have brekfest(i personaly havent tryed it i will in oct) and it is right at the cross walk for disneyland.

That was me I think..........

CCI is not a bad Hotel, with the number in your party you will have to have two rooms and three in one of their rooms is fine. Their standard rooms are on the tight side though so if you have a lot of luggage it could be a little cramped. They are a good half a mile from the main gate, about 10 to 15 minute walk depending on walking speed but they do have a free shuttle which runs every half hour.

The pool is small but the grounds are some of the best in DL area, they include a good breakfast although you have to eat outside which can be a problem in inclement weather.

CCI has a very loyal following here, it all comes down to what you want in a Hotel, IMO there are cheaper/closer alternatives. Friends of ours stayed there and were dissappointed, not that the Hotel was no good, just that it was further away from DL than the website said, the rooms smaller than they imagineed and they felt the Carousel Inn (where we were staying) was better and cheaper. Now recently I have seen reviews of Carousel Inn that were both disappointing and good, people have different expectations of Hotels and Hotels can change.

We have stayed at Tropicanna and Carousel and whilst we were very happy with our stays I wouldn't close myself off to looking at other hotels for our next stay.

Please don't let me put you off CCI, I would hate for you to change hotels and have a bad stay somewhere else. I would suggest you don't offer insight on a hotel you don't have first hand knowledge of,I have seen CCI first hand when we visited our friends and so only speak on the three hotels I have seen or stayed at.

Kiwi, I send many of my clients to CCI (I do trip DLR planning), and have heard reviews back from them. So I am confident in referring other people there, even though I have never slept in one of their rooms myself.

Thats OK, and as I say CCI is not a bad hotel, people won't have a bad stay there. Thats why I was horrified to think I had put someone off staying there.

From what Mindylovesmickey has asked for in a hotel, she would be fine at CCI, Tropicanna and camelot, maybe even the Park Vue or Desert Inn

We have stayed at CCI twice and absolutely love it. Yes, for your party you will need two rooms. Three people a room will be fine. We had 4 and it was comfy, even with our luggage. Never felt cramped, the GCH rooms are smaller, IMO. The continental breakfast can be taken back to your room, and they do have some tables inside. So you aren't forced to eat outside if the weather is wet or chilly. Plus, they have a few tables upstairs, under the overhangs near a few rooms. We easily did the walk back and forth with two kids and the dedicated shuttle is awesome. We will be returning there or going to HOJO rather than spending the money on GCH for the remainder of our trips this year. We have researched the other nearby hotels, HOJO is the only one that seems to hold up to CCI. Residence Inn might be an option if walking distance is not an issue.

We LOVE CCI! We stayed there last May/June with my family of 25! Yes I said 25. We had 10 rooms and we loved it there. I cannot think of a reason not to stay there.

Well, we did book two Premium rooms, and compared to what I was going to be paying at the DLH, it is almost $2000 less, so I was happy about that. These are the things they told me when I booked:

-with the premium rooms, they will deliver the continental breakfast to our rooms, so we should have to eat outside. And hot foods are offered.
-they are 250 yards from the main gate.
-They have a heated pool, a jacuzzi, and a children's wading pool.
-their free shuttle runs on the hour and 1/2 hour.
-they have an extended check out time of 2pm where most of the other hotels are 11am.

Are any of those things untrue or half truths? These were the main things that sold me. And these were the things I was speaking on. So, if I was told wrong by the reservation agent, I definitely want to know.

I can speak first hand on the Desert Inn, we stayed there last year, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I had, we were there for two nights and spent almost $400 for what I was told was supposed to be a 1 bedroom King Suite, which was 2 king beds crammed into a corner room with no view, it was one of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in, not to mention the staff was totally unwilling to help or offer an explaination for our room situation. The spa tub in the bathroom didn't even work properly the faucet was too small for the tub and it leaked all over the floor of the bathroom leaving our bathroom soaked. So, I tend not to say much when people say what a great hotel the Desert Inn is, because I figure maybe my experience was unique. I'm almost willing to try them again, but my husband most definitely is not.

If you got the premium room then you WILL be happy. We are a family of 5 and thoroughly enjoy our stays at CCI in the premium rooms. The breakfast delivered to your room is excellent and you will get anything you want on the menu and as much as you want. Their delivery is also very prompt in our experiences. The shuttle is a nice convenience if you don't feel like walking but we probably only use it for 10% of our stays. We enjoy the walk.

Everything they told you is true. Also add to the list the coffee beans and grinder, in-room safe, nightly complimentary video rental, and nightly turn-down service. I believe we also got some popcorn and cookies upon arrival.

Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Everything the reservation agent told you is true. Plus, the premium rooms are bigger. Even though your breakfast is delivered (you pick the time) you can go eat at the pool or in the breakfast room and get more if you find that is necessary. Our last stay we had a premium room, we'd save some juice and milk in the fridge for an afternoon snack as well as some fruit. They send it in little carafes and they fit nicely in the fridge.

Using Google Earth:

Just the walk along Harbor from the nearest corner of CCI to the sign that is on harbour outside the shuttle drop off area (perhaps the most loosely defined "main gate" definition there could be) is 580 yards. From that point you still have 200 yards before you are actually at the Esplanade (the area between DL and DCA) and what most people would define as the main gate.

There are no shortcuts or any other way to make this shorter.

So to say they are 250 yards would be an untruth in my book.

None of these are within walking distance that I am aware of. Personally I don't really think CCI is within walking distance either, and it seems kind of expensive too, IMO.

Sorry you had a bad experience with Desert Inn and Suites, that is the place I was going to suggest. We just stayed there last month and had a wonderful time. It was VERY clean and SO close to the main gates. I think the only other places that offer suites that are really within walking distance are Tropicana and Carousel. You might be able to do Embassy Suites South, but it would be a hike just like CCI.

This link shows you the actual walk from the farthest room position at the CCI to the esplanade.

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=88657

It's just over .64 miles.

Still have to say they are one of the few hotels in the area that have a private shuttle. So if your dogs are barkin' hop on that happy little shuttle!

Thank you for the link, and that's what I was thinking, the private shuttle is a big plus, it might be kind of a PITA with the stoller and everything, but I think ART would be a little more difficult since they have more than one stop.

I'm honestly not worried about the price of the hotel, I will be paying $149 a night for a premium room. We were going to stay on the disney property, so comparing the two I am saving quite a bit of money.

I think I'm just going to relax and go with what I got, hope to have a wonderful time, and then reflect when it's all done on whether I would do it again or not. ;)

JUST noticed the last part of your post regarding BWPPI...I was like...why hasn't anyone mentioned BWPPI???? I ALWAYS stay there...never have stayed anywhere else. Always meets our needs! Best of luck!!

hi there, we stayed at the candy cane inn in may 06 and loved it...we are a family of 5, and while the rooms arent huge, they did the trick....we went to DL in sept, and due to the fact the package we booked couldnt get us CCI, we went hojos-which we also loved....it is a 7-8 minute to dl from cci, but we dont consider this bad, just some exercise...after being in WDW in 04, it took longer to walk from our hotel room to our bus when staying at the pop, so the small amount of walking to get places at DL was really no big deal...have fun
