Hotel the night before...

I'm having trouble booking a hotel room for the night before.

My first choice was the Sofitel because I stayed in it last time and loved it.

Second was the Hilton, both because of the connection to the airport.

But both are saying I can't book one room with 2 adults, 2 children and an infant.

Last time we had two double beds and space for a cot so I don't know why they won't allow it, the Sofitel website is only allowing me to add one child per room!

Is it worth ringing? I want to use quidco though. I need one night, near the airport (I did want one of the above for the walkway/monorail), that will allow one room for our family. I will not book two rooms.

If I can't get the above are there any others very close to the airport? I was going to use avios airmiles but they only have two hotels to choose from and not sure about them.

Cheapest possible too!

Rang them, they said I'd have to pay extra for a cot or pay for two rooms. So not going to go with the Hilton afterall!

Looking at all the options I think I'll go with the hotel on avios, I've never used those airmiles and don't see me doing so so may as well get a freebie from them!

One of the hotels will pick me up from the airport straight from the train and bring us to the hotel, then back again in the morning, rooms look ok, nothing special.

May try the Hilton next time! Sofitel was beautiful though, will be hard to top it!

With Hilton - we have found it cheaper to sometimes book 2 rooms and get connecting rooms rather than a family room.

Always had our request honoured for connecting rooms too :thumbsup2

It's not that, I don't want us split up, the hotel is the start of our holiday and I want us all to be together. :D

I have had that problem we got 3 kids and I don't like the thought of being split up with kids young ages youngest is 3 we have just said in past only 2 adults 2 kids and took our own cot of got one of kids to share am going to look for a hotel soon for our hol in may

when you look at the Gatwick Hilton Family room on-line it says it can accommodate 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children!!!!!

Personally I would do what a PP said and just book it and let the youngest share. I am with you on the ease of it being attached to the terminal and therefore you have a little more choice in the evening of where to eat etc...

I saw that but it wouldn't let me. :S It kept saying the room wouldn't accommodate, please add another room.

Don't want to ring back, besides I've booked with my airmiles now at another hotel very close with a pick up from the airport/train station in London to the hotel, and back to the airport the next morning which is only 5 minutes away :D And it was free :D lol

Edit: This is what it said;

There are no rooms available for 10 Oct 2012 - 11 Oct 2012 at Hilton London Gatwick Airport. 5 guests per room may exceed the occupancy limit for rooms at this hotel.

We have stayed at the court yard Marriott hotel which was built in 2009 and we always walk to the terminal. You can get the bus but it is about 6 minutes walk. Maybe check whether they can accommodate your family:thumbsup2
