I'm trying to book a hotel for our trip and have it narrowed down to the above 3 hotels. The super 8 for $45 a night, or the alpine or anaheim plaza for $60 a night. I haven't been able to find much info here on alpine or super 8. I've found some mixed reviews on anaheim plaza. If anybody has any experience with any of these 3 please let me know your thoughts. What one would you choose?

We've stayed at Super 8. If was fine, but the walk was a little long. I remember looking at the Anaheim Plaza along the way (it's about half the distance) and wishing we'd stayed there.

My SIL says the Super 8 is fine for their needs which is a place to lay their head. Says the walk is a little long after being in the parks all day.

Which Super 8 are you considering? I've stayed at both :)
It's been some years since I stayed at the one at Katella ave. We stayed for two or three nights and we were happy about it. We walked to Disneyland everyday and home to the hotel, even after a LONG day! I think it took about 10-15 minutes.
The breakfast were okay, as a regular super8 and the pool was also good, not very large as I remember and kind of in the middle of the parking lot (but isn't it the Alpine inn, were the pool is right in the parking??)

Last year I stayed at the one on Disneyland dr. - I actually thought that it was the one on Katella that I had booked, so I was surprised! But I really liked the on on Disneyland drive. The room were quite large, very good service, good parking space. I didn't use the pool, but it seamed okay. Breakfast as I remember was also fine, a little better than on Katella ave.
The way to DL is a bit "complicated". First I was kind of angry about it, but I found out, that it wasn't that hard.
You have to walk about 10 minutes to the DL parking lot and then go with the (i think it's called Lion?) tram to DL. The tram takes about 5 minutes to get to DL.
I like to hotel on Disneyland drive the best.... I felt that I was treated better and the quality all over was better. I found that the tram to DL was nice, you get to sit down a little :D

Hope you find a hotel that fits you :) Ask if you have like a specific question, i'll try to answer...

The Anaheim Plaza is great for no more than $60 per night, the Motel 8 on Katella seems fine but I don't think we'd stay there unless we visit DLR when park hours are 10am-8pm *which doesn't happen for us very often anymore. We take mid day breaks/naps when park hours are 8am-12am - it's a long walk to do more than once a day. *However you could take the Toy Story shuttle ~ it'd drop you off right across the street from the M8 on Katella ~ see *here*

So now that I've realized that I might choose M8 over the Plaza *if M8 is cheaper* and take the Toy Story shuttle at least 1/2 the time *it's free.....

ETA ~ I have no opinion of the Alpine Inn.

Thanks for all your help. I think I'm going to go with the Super 8. I'm not too concerned about the walk since it's just my wife and I, no kids. We stayed at the Red Lion earlier this year and the walk didn't bother us, this doesn't look any further from the map.
I'm working on convincing my wife to get an AP with the money we are saving on a cheaper room. I think I almost have her sold, just one more trip this year and it's paid for itself.

Thanks again everybody.

I stayed at the Super 8 in 1976 when it was the Wesward Ho 7 Seas Hotel. Back then, it was fine!

DH and I are staying there in January. There's an ART stop at the hotel next door, Route 16.

My BFF stayed at both the Super 8's that are close, it was just her and her DH and they thought it was too far to walk. Keep in mind he's an MP and not out of shape at all but he was not happy with the walk. lol

I've never stayed at the Super 8 or Alpine but I have stayed at the Anaheim Plaza a few times, it's fine, the biggest issue I have is the water temp changes while you're showering and I don't like that, otherwise at $60 a night it's great!

Just make sure you read tripadvisor before booking and see what people say! Sometimes you are better to spend another $25 a night in Anaheim. I don't know anything about those hotels though, but there are a few scuzzy ones around!

I have stayed at all three and would suggest AP over the others. Better all around IMO.

I stayed at the Super 8 in June of 2005 with some girlfriends and would never stay there again. The walk was very long IMO, but I am used to staying at the BWPPI and the carpets were so filthy that my feet were black within 5 minutes of walking around barefoot on them. I'm hearing dirty carpets are common, but I've never had that problem with BW.

We just got back from another great trip to Disneyland and stayed at the Anaheim Plaza. This has become our hotel of choice due to price, location and size of the rooms. We've never had the water issue that other people seem to have but that could be because we shower early to get to the parks early. The rooms are huge, the walk takes us no longer than maybe 10 mins and that's with one of us pushing a double stroller and work perfect for my family of 5. We can't wait for our next trip at Christmas again staying at the Anaheim Plaza.

They let 5 people in a room there? I tried to book a room there with 5 people and they wouldn't let me. I wonder if it's because of the ages? I was trying 3 adults, 2 children. Or are you doing connecting rooms?

For some reason online isn't letting you do it but they did it for me when I called plus they gave me the internet rate and no we don't do connecting rooms. I also think it could be my kids ages considering my kids are 4 1/2, 3 and 1. But I really don't know for sure.

Is this the Super 8 you are going to stay at? If so, do yourself a favor and get bus passes back and forth from hotel and Disneyland. It took my son and I 40 minutes to walk to the park. Needless to say after 14 hours on our feet we were exhausted. It's $4 per person per day for a bus pass. Very worth it in my opinion. You can purchase them with the driver with cash. Our pickup spot was at the Days Inn which is just a block up from the hotel. Don't bother with their breakfast either. It's donuts and cereal and toast. Not a breakfast that is going to stick with you for a while. Better to go to restaurants on Harbor Blvd instead.

We stayed at the Alpine on a super budget trip about 9 years ago. It was clean and functional and the price was right. Back then there was a side gate into the DL parking lot and on the weekend we could catch the Timon lot tram to the park.
