Wow that is a shame they didn't let you take advantage of your status. I wonder if you had tweeted that or commented on their FB account what was taking place if they might have changed their tune. SPG points are the most valuable points and miles currency in my opinion. I am so relieved that the Chinese insurance company out bid Marriott. I was thinking that the value of those SPG points would tank with a Marriott merger. Still holding my breath to see how Marriott responds. FYI for anyone considering an SPG card they have their highest bonus offer ever (35K points) going on right now until March 30th. I think I'm going to have to add the SPG business card to my portfolio. 35K SPG points is too good to pass up!
The Fairmont in San Francisco allowed us to add our loyalty number to the booking and earn the points. I imagine each hotel chain will do things differently but it doesn't hurt to ask once you are there. For the life of me I can't remember where our pre-night stay in Budapest is with
ABD for the river cruise. I know the post stay in Prague is a Marriott. I will ask if we can use our loyalty number once we are there. Crossing fingers.
