hotel recommendations in Savannah

or a city slightly before? I think that's about the distance we'll travel down. We're looking for an inexpensive room w/2 queens, clean & safe but those are the only requirements. Tried to search because I know I've seen this answered before but function is down.

Can someone point me to some good choices? Also, where have you found the best site for discounted rates? Want something that can be cancelled so auction sites are not an option.

I wouldn't recommend the Motel 6. I did not their room layout.

Is Hardeeville an ok place to stay? I really wish I could remember that thread, think it was mentioned but don't know if bad/good.

The Clarion Inn & Suites, exit 94 off of I-95.

I chose it because it was the only one I could find with 2 queen beds per room.

I was very happy with this hotel. It was clean, appeared to be fairly new, and had an indoor pool (great after a day of driving).

They offered a continental breakfast the next morning!

You can't go wrong with Hampton Inns. There are several on I95 in Savannah. We've stayed at the one on Abercorn (RT 207, I think). We've also stayed at the Days inn in Hardeville, SC. It was the pits. I'll never stay there again.

We always stop in Savannah at Exit 94. There are lots of hotels at this exit. Most of the brand names are represented - Hampton, Holiday, Best Western, Quality, Clarion, Fairfield Inn, Country Inn & Suites, and more too I'm just drawing a blank to the otheres names. Anyway my biggest advice is to make sure you do make a reservation especially if you are travelling on a weekend. This exit seems to be an extremely busy stopping point! Many of the places are sold out if you do not have a reservation.

We always stay at the Hampton Inn since we have their point card and it includes a continental breakfast which is nice to get and go. However I am thinking they only have double/double combinations there, but not entirely sure.

We stayed at the Country Inns and Suites off one of the Savannah exits on our way down last summer and it was a fine place to stay - we got the suite so we had two rooms. There is a Cracker Barrel next door - had dinner there. The hotel has a breakfast. I've stayed at other CI&S and they have all be nice hotels in good locations.
