do the hotels charge a $15 parking fee for onsite guests? I am trying to decide between renting a car or using taxis since I know we will go over to DTD/WDW maybe once or twice.

Renting a car vs. the shuttle/taxi fees is about the same cost, but when you add in a $15 parking fee it makes more sense to use shuttles/taxis but I want to make sure that is correct.

Yep, we just returned from The Hard Rock Hotel for a 5 nite stay
and were charged $15.00 a day
I think it's insane, but that's my opinion.
But we love express, so we will continue to pay :)

by express do you mean the front of the line access? If so than yes I definitely see that as a great incentive for staying onsite...but even without that I an dying to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. :)

No biggie, honestly I would prefer to use shuttles/taxis and not deal with driving, parking, etc. but I also want to go with the less expensive option.

Wow I didn't realise you had to pay to park when staying at a USF resort - that's ridiculous!

stay at a hotel in chicago....you'll pay $45 a night to park

no, in fact it is great that all hotel guests are not paying for parking with a hidden fee in their room rate.

if you have a car and park at the hotel, you have a fee to pay.
no car, no additional fees.

disney just incorporates the parking cost into all the rates.
they say parking is free for resorts guests but they have the hidden fees like other hotels do.

Parking is $15 per day for hotel guests plus $0.98 for tax. That's the way it appeared on our final bill at the PBH. I know it's only a small difference but I had never seen a separate tax on parking before this.

Is the parking fee charged per night or per day?

For example, we are arriving on a Tuesday and checking out on a Thursday. Would I be charged for parking two times (two nights) or three times (three day)?

Thanks!

per night as i recall...

@ least everybody doesn't get hit w/the parking fee (only those w/vehicles & HC plates/placard is "free"):confused3

imo a resort fee of sorts that many resorts/hotels assess

you are paying for 2 nights only.
depending on the hotel you are staying at, sometimes the parking fee has not shown up on your bill at check out time.

i have not had a car with me the last 5 years and i had the parking fee on my bill. it was easy to have it removed. no issue, no problem.

if you have the placard from any state, free parking at the hotel.
if you have the hc plates, free parking at the hotel.

I don't mind the parking fee. I just figure it in when planning so it's no big deal to me. I look at it this way, if it were free what would keep people who are only visiting the parks and City Walk from taking up the spots? :confused3

good way of thinking...... i like that.

When we were last there in Jan it was $12 for self parking and $20 for valet.
Has it gone up since then? I love valet parking and it's my little splurge. :cloud9:

Comparing hotel prices to Disney (with "no" parking fees), the Universal hotels are cheaper even if you add in the extra parking fee. So that "no" parking fee sure is high and you don't get any other perks!!! Give me the parking fee any day!

Take the dates Aug 15-17 for example

Grand Floridian - $385
Poly $340
Contemporary $360

Portofino $299

I agree Damo. The prices of the deluxe rooms at disney are criminal. We stayed at Swan and Dolphin (I know they are not official disney hotels) years ago and they charged for parking. Have they done away with that?

I believe they still charge a resort fee.
