Hotel night before cruise?

It does seem like he easiest option. Was it that much cheaper than your Disney hotel for the night?

Yes - but we were staying at the Contemporary, and were able to use Hyatt points to get a reduced rate. That said, every trip to WDW and DCL we've done, we've spent a night at the Hyatt on one end or the other, even if it hasn't been a dramatic cost savings. Our kids are still little enough that the convenience is really worth it.

We will be flying in the night before our first cruise, trying to decide where to spend the night . Where do you like to stay? Airport hotel? Disney hotel? Cocoa beach? Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 7:30 pm if there are no delays. We are a party of 8 so we need 2-3 hotel rooms so we need to keep the cost down! If you like to stay close to port the night before what transportation do you recommend? Thanks!

Getting in that late, I would stay at the MCO Hyatt...hands down. If you're getting in early the day before and have most of the day, then maybe I'd go over and stay in Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach. But a late flight, just go right into the Hyatt, have them get your bags in the morning and take DCL bus to the port. It was even better and more convenient staying at the airport back in the day when you could check in for the cruise right at the airport, but those days are over. Still, it's the best choice, IMO.

Hyatt is convenient but expensive. When our flight landed at midnight, it was worth it. Coming up cruise, flight gets in around 8 PM, staying the Marriott near airport with out Marriott points. They have a shuttle bus and using Happy Limo next day. We've stayed at Port Canaveral but prices are high there for the quality. The distance isn't too far, just 45 minute drive, so we'd rather stay in Orlando where there are more options.
