I saved a lot by booking a flight the night before our vacation... Got $77 ea way on SW, DAL-MCO, Aug 3-9!

But now I'm trying to decide the best way to compensate for arriving a day early...

Arriving at 11pm, I don't want to add a night to my package at the Polynesian, for $$ reasons. I'm trying to find the very most economical way to deal w this!

Options:
1. Book a night at a value ($140), take DME on arrival night and take a cab to Poly the next morning. (I really don't want to pay this much)
2. Book a night at a MCO area hotel w a shuttle, take the shuttle back to MCO the next morning and take DME to Poly.

I'm leaning toward option 2...
Has anyone stayed at a hotel like this? I want to pay around $70ish

Any suggestions?? :)

There is a hotel right in the airport - here is the link ... unfortunately I don't think you'll get a room there for $70 :sad2:

The airport website lists several local hotels here including the distance from the airport (most of them north of the airport)

I vote for #2. We have done exactly that. There are many, many hotels near the airport with free shuttles. We paid $80-85 at Residence Inn (I prefer Marriotts). It worked out perfect, they even dropped us off at the DME area of MCO.

We did that a few years back - got a better airfare for the night before, but didn't want to spend the points (DVC) since we weren't arriving till about 11 pm. I went on Hotwire and got a hotel for $35! It was right next to to the airport - they had a shuttle back and forth to MCO. I want to say it was a Radisson, but I can't remember. They took us to hotel in pm and back to mco in am where we picked up our rental car and took off :thumbsup2

We've stayed at a couple of different Marriott properties near the airport and been very satisfied.

Thank you so much for your advice.

I'd forgotten about the Hyatt at the airport.. It would be super nice and convenient to stay there, but it looks like that would be about $180!

I've looked at hotwire... They have one of their hot rate special deals, which indicates shuttle service is included, 3 star for $48... I'm actually thinking about letting loose and booking it without knowing which hotel I'll get! CRAZY!!! Well, for me at least ;)

Has anyone out there had positive experiences booking a hotwire mystery deal like this??
Does priceline let you choose features like 'airport shuttle' if I get really crazy and decide to try that??
:) :) :)

We did that, and I was nervous about booking without knowing the hotel, but worked out great and I would do it again if I had to. When we landed we got our luggage and there's a phone that connects to shuttles for various hotels. We called that and the guy was there in 5 minutes - maybe even less. He took us to the hotel where we spent the night, and in the am they had shuttles on every 1/2 hour - caught one of them back to MCO, picked up our rental and off to Disney! I haven't done it in years, but I think when you scroll over the hotel on hotwire it will have the airport shuttle sign/transportation sign. Go for it!

we have an early flight home on Saturday and don't want to pay for one last night at the Beach Club, so we are using Choice Hotel points to stay for free at the Comfort Suites near the airport:thumbsup2

Would you pay $128 for the hyatt mco, all taxes included?

I have used Priceline several times to book a near the airport hotel. I have gotten the Hyatt inside the airport twice for $55 (including the taxes). I have also gotten the Marriott, for about the same amount. Even if by some slim chance you get a hotel that doesn't have a shuttle, a taxi wouldn't cost much for a ride back to the airport.

ive used hotwire for mco (someone posted HOW to get them and it worked) and also have used delta miles for a stay at hyatt mco for FREE.
Love that hyatt, and we often will stay for a late flight or an early flight for that matter.

I think that taking a chance on a 48 hotel is chancy at best, but thats just me, we do Not ever stay in a motel type place......Id rather sleep in an airport :rotfl:
Good Luck.....I am sure others here can find you a safe cheaper place........

I've used Priceline three times to get a 3 1/5 star hotel in the MCO area, twice getting the Hyatt Regency, once the Marriot for from $39 to $55. This March I booked the Hyatt for free using credit card reward points.

I've used Priceline's Name Your Own Price several times for airport area hotels. I got the Marriott for $43 in January and Hilton Garden Inn for $37 in August. I also used Hotwire and got the Holiday Inn Express for $34 a few years ago.

I highly recommend betterbidding.com for research and bidding strategies if you are not familiar with the Priceline/Hotwire processes.

Its always nice to book hotels and plane booking online its saves much time and we can have more information then standing in the line for booking. So I always do online booking.
