We have a split stay between 2 resorts for a total of 6 days. I know technically I would need to buy a mug at each resort. I'll probably just use for a AM coffee or a soda at the pool. If I need to buy for each resort I probably won't. I saw something on a board that some locations have radio chips in the mugs so it can only be filled at the resort you are staying at ...anyone know if that is accurate?

I'm pretty sure they only tested that at All Star Sports ...

I guess I'm a rule breaker. If I stay one night at resort A and buy a mug I will use it at resort B too.

At the price of those mugs, I'm certainly not going to buy two when I'm staying two days at one resort and two days at another on the same visit. The mugs were identical at AKV and VWL. My inner Jiminy Cricket did not object.

And yes, we saw people that were still using the old resort-specific mugs from years ago at Wilderness Lodge.

I only buy 1 set per trip. We usually stay at 2 resorts each time and in Dec we stayed in 3. I think one set per trip is okay mainy because we hardly even use them. My inlaws bought their own in Dec because they thought it was a good idea and never used them a second time!! That was one mighty expensive diet coke! :cutie:

I think one mug per trip, because you could just as easily not split the stay, and just stay at one resort. One trip, one mug. I like the inner Jiminy Cricket reference!

Unless you really drink a lot and you are staying really close to the refill stations, buying the mugs just aren't worth it for us.

That being said, some people break the rules and some don't. Everyone has their own thoughts of what's acceptable.

They are up to $15 mug now! We had the mugs included in our dining plan....so did everyone else! Lines to get to the soda. I wish there were more diet options. The soda choices were ok. Nothing to make me make special trip over to get a soda.

Particularly if we rent a car and can stop at a grocery store, I much prefer just buying a case of soda when we stock up on other groceries.

We've tried the mugs, but I would typically want to get a cup of tea with breakfast, but not want to take to mug back to the room before heading to the parks. It also just seemed easier to head to the pool with a can of Pepsi, rather than bothering with a detour to fill up that very shallow mug.

To me, a mug would only even be under consideration if I could use it for the full 6 days. Disney really needs a policy about split stays so guests don't have to feel like criminals if they break the rules or dopes if they don't.:rolleyes1

I'm representing the "1 mug per decade" mentality. Until they enforce it, why keep funneling money into them? I see people filling up Poland Springs bottles so to each his own...

Thanks for the replies, it reinforces my thoughts. Probably won't get my "moneys worth" of beverage but nice to have when I'm back home wishing I was at the Boardwalk!

We probably would not get the Mugs if they weren't included in the Disney Dining Plan, but since they are they make great souvenirs that we use all year!

:)

As far as the Split Stay goes, i think Technically speaking, if you had a CM with you at all times they would tell you it is per visit to a resort, but I doubt anyone is going to say anything to you in reality, and Split Stay is a grey area in my mind!

Hi, Do ALL resorts have the same mug now?? I stayed at BWV,SSR and OKW last year and I thought all 3 had the same mug?? Thanks, Joan

Even if we are not close to a mug station I will usually get one to use at home.

I *love* using my mugs when I get home!

This is how bad I am: when we were at the Studios in Nov. for the Osbourne lights, they were selling hot cocoa in the exact same style mug but with a Christmas theme on it! These aren't refillable, mind you ...but I didn't care! I also didn't want any hot cocoa. I bought the mug and asked the CM not to fill it! She thought I was nuts. She kept saying "you know it comes with the cocoa, right?"

It was my favorite souvenir!!! :)

Sort of on the same topic...What is the design on the mugs right now? I think that the last time I was there it was Mickey and friends playing at the pool. I thought those mugs were cute.

We do this too. We buy mugs each trip, but our trip last summer, we were at 3 resorts. I didn't need 12 mugs. I bought 4.

and Split Stay is a grey area in my mind!

I hope if they do go to the "chips" that they factor in split stays. There should be a "reactivation" price or something. It's obnoxious to buy a mug for one night, another for the next two nights, and then yet another for your last 6 nights or something. Then sometimes we stay an extra night!

oooh, we got it too and the cocoa was really good too. Well worth the 5 bucks. Now I can't wait for the next holiday season to begin so I can use that for my coffee while on the road. Not looking forward to the cold that goes with the season, just the mug :lmao:

Yup thats the the one....we packed ours carefully away as we are returning in december...our mugs from 2010 are so battered because we love to use them as travel mugs...figure an annual purchase is ethical (crickets chirping...? :rotfl: )

If it is a non-refillable mug from one of the parks, you can bring it back as many times as you want. But you can't get free refills. It's just a souvenier mug. But if it is a refillable mug, the rules are written right on the side of the mug.
