Hi all,

Just back from my 3 week holiday/wedding in the sunshine state :sad1: and we're looking to book again next year. I've always stayed in a villa but I've always been interested in a hotel stay and I'm thinking of doing so next year for a change. The biggest thing that keeps me going back to a villa is the fact you have laundry facilities, does anyone out there know if the disney/universal/I-Drive hotels have their own laundry facilities and if so what they are like (price/ease of use/time consumption etc)

Any opinions greatly received :thumbsup2

Any hotel we have stayed at in Florida has had good laundry facilities - both onsite and offsite hotels :thumbsup2 .

It costs no more than $2 per load for the washing machine and around the same for the dryers (remember to save up your quarters). They usually sell individual boxes of soap powder for $1 in vending machines but if you go to Walgeens/Walmart etc you can pick them up for less  .

They are very easy to use and take quite large loads :laundy: .

I've stayed at ASSp twice. The laundry room was least busy first thing in the morning. I'd allow an hour -but I'd go off and do other things while it was in the machines.

This is how it worked for me:-
Put on wash then get a coffee
(20 minutes to wash)
After coffee come back and split load between as many driers as available to reduce drying time.
While drying go and wake up family and get them to come back and help with folding.
(30 minutes to dry)

All the Disney and Universal hotels have washing facilities, although it's not quite the same as having your own. DVC units, with the exception of the studios, have their own washer/dryer. When we're staying in a hotel room or a studio, dh does the washing whilst I'm making myself gorgeous in the mornings (it takes a while :rotfl: ). When we stayed in a studio at SSR there were washing facilities right next to the Grandstand pool bar, so he quickly cottoned-on to doing the washing when I was getting ready to go out in the evenings. :teeth:

I agree use them when the pools are quiet or everyone is having meals or out at the parks. Most laundry facilities are close to pools and restrooms so no worries if you need to nip away for 5 minutes. As others have said make sure you have enough quarters at least 8 for a wash and 8 for a dry. I save mine so I have less to worry about and I take my own detergent and tumble drier sheets. The only thing I don't take is fabric conditioner but they have sachets in the machine usually Lenor Downy (about a$1.50 last time we used it I think) which is quite nice and doesn't irritate our skin. There are usually a couple of extra large load capacity machines to do really big loads in if your not keen on using two or three. Just remember they do the wash by temperature cold perma-press and hot. Remember to clean out the filter inside the door of the dryer, it's amazing what collects in those things. I try to empty the one I've used so it's ready for another guest. Dimplenose is about right with the times and you can always read a book while you sip a coffee or something stronger or catch up with a trip report. Most hotel rooms also have an iron and ironing board too, the irons don't take long to heat up so you can soon get things pressed and hung up without taking too long.

last year we stayed at CBR and the laundry facilties were right by the quiet pool, which meant we could have an afternoon lying around th epool whilst doing some washing!! It was such a godsend espeically not having that mountain of washing to do when we got home. will certainly be taking a trip to the laundry facilites on my next trips as well. as others have said just make sure you have a few quarters handy (though they do have chnage manchines in the laundry rooms just not alwasy working!!)

At WL the laundy is near to the pool - I took down one afternoon to do some - it was like a mother's meeting in there!!

Another good time is on your way to breakfast - if convenient & not in too much of a rush.

Thanks for the info guys, this might just sway me into a hotel next time round

I don't remember the Portofino Bay having one though the other 2 Universal hotels do. Virtually every offsite one has. Great to take a case full of clean clothes home!

I echo what others have said.We always stay on I-Drive and i have never had any problems with doing the laundry, quite a quick process really.
:cheer2: Congratulations On Your Wedding :cheer2:
Would love to see some piccies.x.
