Helloo,

I am so annoyed, I thought I had all the accommodation sorted. I had a villa booked for a week in the Clearwater/St Pete area for next year. The owner emailed me and said he is really sorry but it's unavailable as he got the dates wrong, he thought it was for this year that we wanted it. So I am now back to square 1. I have emailed over 50 people enquiring about condos and villas and they all seem to be booked up. It looks like our only option is a hotel, which is fine with me, but can anyone reccommend any nice hotels in the Clearwater/St pete area?I have looked on trip advisor, but I thought I would come and ask your opinions also.

I did find a hotel called The Dolphin Beach resort in St Pete, which is a reasonable price, but on trip advisor the reviews are 50% posative and 50% negative. Has anyone ever stayed here before?

Any help would be appreciated

We stayed at the Grand Plaza at St Pete Beach beack in 2007. It was formerly a Holiday Inn and had atrocious reviews on Trip Advisor but it was the only place we could find that gave us a room for 5 with a balcony overlooking the Gulf. Well, it was absolutely fantastic there, we had a fabulous Gulf view suite with two balconies and the hotel was right on the beach. We didn't eat there as the restaurant was quite pricey but there are lots of places to walk to nearby. Best one was Crabby Bill's. :goodvibes

Have stayed at the Hilton in Clearwater back in '05 - great location right next to pier 60 and a nice room :goodvibes

We stayed at Tradewinds Grand Resort at St Petes in 2007 and I would not recommend it. The room was full of creepy crawlies (yes I know this is Florida but not used it this standard in the USA.) The restaurants in the hotel were well below average and the bar tenders in the beach bar were downright rude. The location was excellent but I would never return.
