I realize there are a ton of threads on hotels and I promise I have spent many hours the past few days pouring through them all... but I would very much appreciate a direct answer from those who know or have an opinion on my specific question...

We've been to DL five? six? times in the past 7 years. Our very first trip in 2010, we stayed at Fairfield Inn - prior to any renovations. After that trip, we splurged on Grand Californian. Love. We've stayed at GCH ever since. We always go off-season so the price is better (except a year ago October, but we used Dave's Vacation Club to book a studio at VGC.)

This year we decided very last minute to add on to our Phoenix visit to see grandparents, a surprise trip to Disney. We're not telling the kids until we get to Seattle to switch planes... We're taking family friends with us - and their two kids - who've never been to DL. (Kids are 11, 12, 12, and 15 so no naps needed....)

Our friends aren't keen on spending the money for an on-site hotel, and we hadn't budgeted for this last minute trip, so off-site it is.

I'm trying to decide between Fairfield Inn and Park Vue (the only two hotels where I can still get a reservation.... ).

Has anyone stayed at one or the other (or both) recently willing to share their thoughts?

I haven't stayed at either one.
I would choose ParkVue due to the recommendations I seen here on the board. Plus it's so close to the parks.
From descriptions of those staying at both, it sounds like PV is a better quality. I think it even includes breakfast .

I also haven't stayed at either, but agree with the PP that Park Vue would have an edge over Fairfield Inn due to proximity. I considered staying there one trip, and yes they do serve breakfast -- it looks like a mix of hot and cold items. The grounds at Park Vue seem a bit nicer as well if that matters to you.

I’ve stayed at park vue 3 Times, most recently last month. Staff is great, rooms are clean and location to park entrance can’t be beat. It’s not exactly luxurious or even a hotel, but we don’t spend a lot of times in our room so it works for us. I’ve also looked into Fairfield and it looks nice. I would choose it if it were cheaper and I didn’t mind walking further. We’re going back next month and chose PVI again because it was cheapest with the returning discount. Also, they have free parking and we’re renting a car. I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

If earning reward points matters at all, then I would choose the FFI. The ability to use/earn Marriott points can really pay off on future trips.

Thanks everyone; we switched to Park Vue. (And good point about the elevator! I hadn't thought of that at all.)
