We always drive down from the Atlanta area the day before our reservation at our WDW resort. Each year we have driven further and stayed closer. This year I was thinking of actually staying on property the night before.

Do any of you have either a suggestion for a inexpensive hotel close by that you like or would you stay at a value one night? I want to stay under $100 per room as I will need 2 rooms.

Any advice is appreciated.

If going to a park is not a possibility and you want to spend less than $100, I'd stay close, but offsite. For $100 a night, you can find something nicer than a value resort room. With those value resorts, you're paying a small premium to be onsite. If being onsite for 1 night isn't important, I'd stay offsite. For not much over $100, you may be able to find some kind of small suite nearby that might eliminate the need for 2 rooms.

Thanks Grimley. We will not be getting in until late that night- no chance of going to a park until the next day. It will really just be a place to sleep and maybe eat b'fast.

We do the same thing. We stay at a hotel the night before and the night before we leave. Last time we stayed a low budget hotel and it was bad. It was a namebrand hotel but it was REALLY bad. There was a hooker outside our room, and I know someone was dealing drugs outside the hotel. Plus, there was a chinese rest. in front that smelled like a dead animal. So be careful. lol.

We booked the Residence Inn for 94 a night. It includes a full hot breakfast bar. The reviews look really nice. We will find out in two days. The room includes a full kitchen, that will help with a baby.

There are many hotels on 192 that offer great value. I like the Choice Hotels chain and Days Inns. I've stayed at a Sleep Inn on 192 for around $50 per night. Very nice.

Caribe Royale is nice and is a lving room and bedroom (split). It's sister resort, Buena Vista Suites, offers free breakfast. They have specials for less than $100 frequently.

When we drove over the summer we stayed our first Orlando nt at the Sheraton Safari before checking into the Grand Floridian. It was pretty nice. :thumbsup2 I would do it again. Clean, large African themed rooms, looked like a pretty pool area, yummy room service, comfy Sheraton beds, great deal. I think the DTD area is right across the street, too.

Happy travels,

Do not stay at the Howard Johnson! We made the mistake of staying the day before WDW. Name brand hotel and we have stayed in Howard Johnsons in other parts of the country and enjoyed our stay. But this hotel was Horrible, Horrible, roaches everywhere. When we called the main office to complain and clean them up, the front desk lady said "there would be more in the morning.:scared1: After all this is florida" :sad2:.... She was polite about it, and did send someone to clean up the roach party in our room. Eww I am stick grossed out over it.:scared: Anyone else had a roach problem??? Or were we the lucky ones.
