Hotel for LHR T3

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel (for three of us and our friends, family of 4) nr terminal 3 at Heathrow?

We're so used (spoilt!) by staying onsite at Gatwick at Hilton or Meridien for our Florida trips that it'll be hard work getting really early up for our San Fransisco flight next Easter, specially since we have to drive up from the South Coast and we leave on a Friday morning.

We've quite liked the Sheraton Skyline - though it's a while since we've been there.

Sheraton Skyline is a nice hotel and there is Park Inn (formerly Le Meridien) as well. A little further out (5 minute taxi ride) is the Crowne Plaza, which I like the best. Wonderful, large, newly rennovated rooms and a superb restaurant and pool complex as well. We stayed at the Park Inn on our last trip, but the rooms are a little too "minimalistic modern" for my tastes.
