I have procrastinated too long  Christmas, family, bad weather, flu blah blah blah...excuses I know!

Checking out prices of flights from EDI to MCO 1st Oct 2011 returning on 22nd, dates not flexible. They are now on a slow but steady incline. Was kinda crossing fingers for a January sale but thought I'd take a wee peek today :scared1:

We are a party of 2A and 1DD(10 will be 11 mid trip) Cheapest at the moment is Air France at 613.54.

The huge q is...should I wait it out and see if the fares drop?

Or I can fly into Tampa with BA for £575.60, not really much difference.

We would need to get a towncar to take us from airport to HRH then to POFQ three days later then either ME or towncar back to airport. I'm sure I've read that towncars do that. Car rental not an option, DH won't drive in USA and my map reading skills are v poor! How much would a towncar cost from Tampa to Orlando return? Does ME even go to Tampa? I don't think it does :confused3

I would really appreciate if all you flight gurus could look into your crystal ball and tell me when the flights will be back at the more acceptable to me £500 mark! :worship:

TIA

Have you looked at Continental from Edinburgh via Newark and straight through to MCO from there? I got ours for 23 September for £1000 for one adult and one child. They were by far the cheapest option and quite a nice route too. Plenty of connections from EWR to MCO to choose from if you are nervous about short connection times. They fly from GLA too on a daily basis, departing at 9 am (EDI is 9.30 am) but I just prefer EDI airport.

Just done a search on the CO website and for your dates, 2 adults and one child (assuming aged 5-11?) is £1879 for the three of you - average of £626 per person round trip.

ebookers looks slightly cheaper.

There are deals there if you are needing to save money but from Scotland a lot of hassle(2 stops for about £450 EDI~JAX). Like Heathrow to Jacksonville with 1 stop £406 (£376 child)

Towncar from MCO to Disney Resorts is around $65 one way plus tip. To Tampa it would be around $150 plus tip.

Florida Tours towncars run to Disney resorts and other locations. Here is a link to their site - you can plug in your possible options to get an instant quote.

If you are leaving Orlando from POFQ I would book ME one way to the airport. It will save you at least $65, which seems to be the standard charge. From what I can see they base all their transfers to and from MCO. You could always phone Mears or just get the front desk of HRH to arrange a pick up for you to get you to POFQ from there.

You may want to post your Orlando transport questions on the transportation board as well.

Thanks for all the good info.

Flying from Edinburgh is a hassle especially in non peak months, but it's where I live! One change is bearable, so I guess Air France Delta will have to do. Continental times aren't quite right. Not arriving until late. And when I'm travelling I just want to be there!

Good idea about ME one way. Towncar for getting to hotel(s)

Thanks again and Hope you all have a Happy New Year :)

Thanks for all the good info.

Funny thing that. :confused3 When I was looking at flights for you I noticed all the flghts departed late (around noon) and only got to MCO very late. I only saw that after I posted. Made me go back and check my own booking but it seems my flights still get to MCO at 4.15 pm from EDI.

I only hope they have not changed the schedule and that I don't get contacted to let me know the flight times will be later. I purposely added an extra night for next year's trip. I don't want to spend it in transit so if it has changed, I hope they let me fly the day before instead.

Curiosity got the better of me and I went back and checked the site again. It looks like there are two flights a day from EDI. For some reason the 9.25 departure wasn't showing on my first search but it is now. :confused3 Just in case.

Is Glasgow no good? Not just for CO, but to broaden your options?

Thanks for the GLA suggestion 2tiggies. I plan on checking that out later. Def one to think about :)

Let us know what you find. Although you are going to HRH first, we are at POFQ until 8th October so we'll be there for a few days after you arrive.

I hope you are feeling better and that you are all over the flu. My DD has been unwell 3 Christmases in a row :sad2: It's not fun.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
