Questions for Northerners by Southerners or vice-versa in the USA?

Regarding the sweet tea issue... Being a midwesterner, I expected tea to just be tea. (I do not like tea, but every now and then I try to learn to drink it instead of pop and it never sticks), but that is beside the point. I would expect tea to be unsweet by default, and if you want it sweetened put those sugar packets or something in it.

One time we were traveling through KY and we went through a drive through and I ordered tea. WOW did I ever get a surprise (and NOT in a good way) when I took a drink of what was in that cup. I can definitely say I do not like sweet tea....

I MAY have made DH turn around and go back through the drive through and swap that out because I could not drink that. :rolleyes1

This is one of the things I did have to get use to when we moved to Florida pop vs soda:)

Southerners, what Spring time activities are you looking forward to enjoying this season?

Hilarious but somewhat accurate:
I live in VA , have lived here a big chunk of my life after my dad left the military (Mom was from here)
Oddly enough (even though portrayed for another state, I actually put my hazards on the other day for rain well more like it was buckets of rain with straight line winds but it’s ok because other people had them on as well except for idiots who had not a lick of lights on.
The Texas skit where he had been been driving since like a small child , well I wasn’t a small child but I learned to drive on a tractor and vividly recall driving the car very illegally from my grandparents house to the country story down the road to buy cigarettes at age 12 for my dad.
Virginia skit: yea why leave your vehicle unlocked and running ? Very accurate.
For those who ride the left lane especially on interstate, MOVE! Lol

New questions or thoughts for the thread as Summer ends?

As a northerner, I'm starting to feel that little but of coolness creeping into the air, noticing one or two species of tree changing just a bit, etc. - It feels like fall is coming.

What marks the change to a new time of year in the south?

Southeners: Sorry if this was asked before, I didn't scroll through 17 pages on this......

If you grow vegetables, does a plant basically stay indefinitely and you just cut back areas? I am in the north. Coming up soon, my vegetables will stop producing the new veg, but the vegetables that have already started growing will continue until ripe for picking. Then come probably Sept once I get all the vegetables off it, I will pull out the plant and discard it. Plant new ones next year.

Do you have the same vegetable plant for years? Or are they all just about a 6-month use?

I've lived in SC all my life. We have a change of seasons. It starts getting cooler in late Sept into October. The leaves change colors and fall from the trees. We even have ice storms in Dec/Jan/Feb. We even have snow, maybe not every year but most of the time at least once a winter.
