we have a 7 night Eastern that is sat-sat. We are flying down to MCO two days before and two days after. What is my best option for transportation to and from port canaveral? I don't want to pay for car rental and parking. It just doesn't make any sense. I'll be staying somewhere at a Hilton.

You could do 2 one-way rentals. Drop off before you get on the ship. They will shuttle you to the terminal. After cruise take shuttle to rental agency and pick up car for your last 2 days.

Hertz that I rent from is through a ford dealer in cocoa and doesn't have ideal hours. I've seen conflicting reports on UBER. There was a post a few days ago with people claiming they won't do the one way that far. I put the addresses in my UBER app and it was willing to let me reserve. I haven't but it gave the option.

If you are staying near MCO, you could take a shuttle back to the airport and take DCL transfers to the port for $35/person/each way. Being that you are in the area for 2 days before/after cruise I would think you would want a rental to be able to get around.

I just looked at Hertz in Cape Canaveral. I didn't know there was one there. They want $380 minimal for even a compact. That is nuts for two days.

We're doing something similar. Best I've found so far is with National, contract code 3717102.

MCO-Port Canaveral 1 day is $60. Port Canaveral-MCO 2 day is $106, both for full-size cars.

If you have a Costco or BJs membership, you can get cheap one way rentals (most of the time). My husband and I rented a car on June 26th from MCO and returned it on June 28th at 10:00am at the Alamo in Port Canaveral for $72 total. Alamo and most of the other car rental places have free shuttles to the cruise port. It's great.

Shop around for car rental rates. I've found that at any point in time, any of the major chains can have the lowest deal. Unless you book a prepaid rate, you can easily cancel and book another (same or different agency). In my experience the best offers don't come out until maybe 6-8 weeks prior to travel date.

Enjoy your cruise!
