hot weather/crohn's/heat rashes

Last year my daughter who has crohn's, broke out in really read heat rashes all over her legs and arms. Took her to the local hospital. After our vacation the rashes subsided. However with the weather heating up she's noticed them kind of coming back.(We live in NJ)

We leave for WDW and I know that the rashes will come back. After visiting our speacialist I would like to know if any of you have experienced the red rashes and besides the "oatmeal" baths and covering up her arms and legs.............. is there any thing special that worked for any of you.

I have problems because of my meds. I found frequent cool baths and showers helped stop some of the itching.

Also, Gold Bond powder seemed to be a mircle for controling the rash and also for stopping the itching between showers.

Thanks for the "Gold Bond" secret.... last year was really hard for my daughter because the rashes looked and iched sooooooo bad. We will give this a try.

Are you really sure it's just a heat rash? I, too, have Crohn's, and last year, not anywhere but home, started getting terrible rashes, itchy, scaly things. My doctor (regular doctor) gave me a cream that I think is called something like "Eidel." That's not right, but it's very close. The problem was that there were too many toxins in my system because of the Crohn's. Could it be that in the heat, your daughter isn't drinking enough water (easy to do) and the toxins build up? Or when she sweats them out, they react badly with her skin.? One tends to think that Crohns' is just one area, but it effects the whole body, as I am sure you know!

Good luck to her. Somehow, my Crohns' gets better at the World because I am so happy. Hope I have helped some.
