Hot dog stands / restaurants.... need help with research.

This one is close to me.....it was on the Diners, Drive-In's & Dives too. Their "original" stand has old school buses for the "dining room".....it's great!

thanks a lot. now i want a hot dog
Me, too.
I've been to Pink's and still remember it even though I was only 11 when I went. I loved it.
There used to be a local place called The Dog House, but the guy running it didn't pay his taxes and it got closed :(

As always ... look before you leap. In other words do your homework first.

Do you know the guy.
What are the local codes.
Do you need a vendor license
What's the startup cost

Etc, etc etc,

Yes, absolutely.... much of that is being checked on currently. In fact, one purveyor of hot dogs has offered to help me with that.

Rutt's Hut, Clifton, NJ...I don't think they have a website, but much on the internet about them....my parents were engaged there 64 years ago
It's "home of the ripper", well known in the area and absolutely the best!

My other fav :lovestruc is Pink's in LA. Yum yum yum yum!

Flo's hot dog stand is a hole in the wall in York Me and it has been on just about every Food Channel Show. She has a few new locations and now sells some condiments in the gift shops in places like Kennebunkport and Freeport Me. I will see if I can find a website for it.

omg we have been to Flo's! the wait in summer there is sooooo long!

I live in Buffalo and we have Ted's http://www.tedsonline.com/...and it's very random, but besides Western NY they also have a location in Arizona.

I don't know that I'd call the hotdogs gourmet, but they do excellent business and the food is always good.

I'm sorry to hear about the layoff...I hope everything goes well for you.

Sahlens hot dogs! They are the best! Whenever someone from WNy comes to visit, we always ask them to bring 10 pounds of Sahlens. Gets us through a few months-til someone else is on the way down to Florida. :)

I am not sure if this will help but on the foodnetwork there is a show I love called Diners Drive-ins and Dives.

He has put together a book of the places he went. They are very interesting I would love to take a road trip and visit some of those places. A few have been hot dog places.

There is nothing fancy about Portillo's http://www.portillos.com/
Basic toppings but the guy started with a small hut and grew into a empire. anyway they have a diner type order takers very quick very efficient.

My favorite show on Food Network... in fact, on the list of possible names if we do this is: Triple D Dogs....

Thank you. It will because I am actually looking forward to it... In fact, on Friday I volunteered to be laid off so that someone else, who has already been given a final date of employment, can keep his job.

It isn't a huge deal... we'll all be laid off soon, anyway, and we all get a severance package.... in my case, 21 weeks of pay. Those who get to stay probably only have 4 more months of employment at most - so hopefully, this guy can still have a nice Christmas ---- if the place I work at takes me up on my offer.
