We are moving into our new log home this fall, and our old place is being torn down for development.

I have a fairly extensive hosta garden here, and I would like to take at least some of them with me. Is it at all possible to transplant or some other way salvage these plants now in the fall? BTW, we live in zone 4 Minnesota.

Hosta's are pretty hardy plants no reason why you can't move them right through the fall.

Fall is the perfect time to transplant Hosta. You can also divide them and share them with friends or make an even bigger bed at your new place.

Thanks! I thought I could only do that in the spring. I will need to cover them with a chicken wire frame to keep the deer from getting them in the spring, but once I get them established where I want them, I can keep the deer away by invisible means.
