So I am looking forward to my daughters wish trip but it will be the first time we have been away from our "home" hospital since her seizures first started. So my question to you all wonderful in the know folks is show close are the hospitals fomr GKTW and WDW? How many hospitals are around that area? Are there any kids hospitals near by?

TIA!
Hollie

At Disney, anyone who get transported to the hospital is typically taken to Celebration Hospital.

However, there are two children's hospitals in the area. The closest one is Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. http://www.orlandohealth.com/arnoldpalmerhospital/index.aspx

The other one is Florida Hospital for Children. http://www.floridahospitalforchildren.com/

Arnold Palmer Hospital is about 30 minutes from GKTW and Florida Hospital is about 35 minutes away.

Otherwise it is Osceola Regional Medical Center. http://osceolaregional.com/home/index.dot

Osceola Regional is 10 minutes from GKTW.

Thank you very much for the reply! Having this info will most certainly take the edge of my anxiety so I can enjoy the planning!

Just a couple of things to add...

First, feel free to join us over on the Wish Trippers thread! :)

and 2nd...Make sure you keep your "Bunny Book" with you at all times. You will get this book at your orientation and it will have a bunch of phone numbers for doctor's offices and GKTW contacts that can help you if you need to find a doctor. Many doctors offer free care to Wish Families (during their regular clinic hours), but there are no hospitals that offer free care. We did need the hospital when we were there and went to Celebration. They took wonderful care of Lauren and we were very pleased with them. GKTW was also great about providing the information we needed to figure out the best place to go. GKTW has someone on duty all night long to help with things like this.

Thank you Maroo. I already have but found that I have a whole LOT of catch up reading to do in that thread! lol

Also thank you for the info and I am glad that they did good with Lauren. Now maybe I can stop stressing about Lily and her seizures while being there and can now just concentrate on stressing about a possible seizure on the trip down or back. lol
