OK, with the holiday season fast approaching, we are facing the annual round of Christmas parties.

DH's chairman always has a fancy-schmancy party at his house. Caterers circulate with wine/champagne/sparking water and appetizers and hors d'oeuvres.

My question is: How do you balance those little china appetizer plates, a beverage, and still manage to get some food into your mouth without spilling anything?

Deb, if you find out, please tell me!! ;)

Have fun at the party! :)

I recently went to a wedding that had the cooles gadget. I t was a clip for your plate that you could secure your drink with. it worked really well. I had an apple martini haning from my plate for the entire cocktail hour

oooh!! ooh!! i know!!!! I went to an event at my school a few years ago and they taught us how to behave at business parties and business lunches and stuff. So this is the "proper" way:

Hold your plate in your left hand with your cocktail napkin underneath your plate. Put your drink on your plate when picking up food and hold it in your right hand. :teeth:

I found the best way to avoid a spill while trying to do the balancing act is to have a couple of appetizers first then get a drink. I've seen too many drinks go tumbling off a hors d'oeuvres plate when they try to balance a drink on it.

plates? I just stand there and eat from the table.;) :p

I usually have a drink in each hand, so plates are not a concern:jester: :jester: :jester: ..........

I have to find a place to put my glass down. Holding my glass on my plate would be a good way for me to spill my drink and my food. :)

Just drink Deb. It makes the night go faster;)

put the drink between your knees and eat to your hearts content....make sure you put your napkin under your chin.......hahaha....

Hahahaha! This isn't what I thought it was...I was expecting a DIS party. :Pinkbounc :jester: :bounce: It's snowing like mad up here, and tonight some of our very own DIS friends are drinking beer at the Rose & Crown. Whaaaaaaaa

Hmmmm, I liketh the plate clip idea. (as well as the martini ;)) Perhaps you should start a trend?
