Well, due to work restrictions, etc...(and that our AP's expire 5/29) we are doing a last minute trip 5/25-5/31. Of course the Fort is booked due to being so close to trip time. We have reservations as it stands at Port Orleans Riverside, but I was mulling over whether we should look into the Kissimmee KOA or Tropical Palms with our travel trailer, any opinions? (I do so love being onsite but the latter would be cheaper)...

Thanks in advance!

I would never stay off site no matter the price difference the whole point of a Disney holiday is to take in all things Disney and that includes the resorts. My suggestion is stay onsite I would reccomend Coronado over Riverside though.

If you don't mind being offsite, go for it. Some people care more than others about being offsite, that's a personal choice. If it doesn't bother you, I would definitely consider KOA or Tropical Palms (I'm with F4DisneyFan, I can't stay offsite, last time was probably a decade ago, it just isn't the same to me).

As for Port Orleans Riverside, it is a great resort! Very well themed, feels like the old south easily. Plus there is a gorgeous river that flows through it, nice bridges, lots of trees, you will have a fun time there if you go.

Thanks guys...(F4Disneyfan - I tried to book Coronado Springs first but they were booked :( ), but got the AP rate at PORS. I think I'm leaning towards keeping that ressie, but wasn't sure if the other two campgrounds might be so spectacular that maybe I should rethink it.

Thanks again!

Ya CSR can be tough to get sometimes we stayed at Dixie (POR) and Coronado in the same trip and by far our favourite was CSR Dixie was just to slow it felt more like a retirment village to us LOL.
The place was beautiful but just not our style it felt like we couldn't speak very loudly in case we woke up the old folks LOL.

Ha-ha! I just checked again on line and I was wrong...I could get a 1 Bedroom King Suite or an Executive Suite at the Coronado for a mere $500+ or $800+ more per night...:scared:

See, I'm on the opposite when it comes to Coronado, we stayed there a couple years ago, and the entire time I felt like I was staying at a business convention center, it's probably my least favorite resort on property now. Just goes to show, we all have our own tastes, but we all love the Fort!!! lol ;)

Yeah, I'll be at Disney, on property I'll be happy no matter what :)

LOL I have no desire to stay at the Fort I am not a camper I camped quite a bit when I was a kid and now my idea of camping is a queen size bed and air conditioning and cement walls. I also need some theming and a slide at my pool other than the pools at the Values they are actually my favourite resorts I love the All Stars. My wife and kids love to camp bu not me so a FW stay will consist of her and the 4 kids and non dad I will meet up with them after the camping portion is done and stay at SSR with them LOL.

Great decision!:cool1: I would much rather pay the difference and stay on the property then deal with the traffic off the property.

tropical palms has doubled their prices lately, and the price is the sme for a super site or any of the others the only have h2o and elect. Its realy to bad it was a nice place to go in the summer when it was empty, but now we will just make resv.for the Fort!

to check for cancellations at FW. I had a similar thing happen and I got into FW fine. :) Any Disney vacation is better than none and all the resorts are great. IMHO

When we visited there was a business convention going on! It felt really wierd. I also didn't care for the food court..part food court, part table service. We have stayed Caribbean for a moderate and liked it very much. Our favorite resort now is WL..and of course it's proximity to FW is a big plus.

Yea, Coronada has a very weird food court. You feel like you're at the All Star with the food court setup, then people come and give you table service. I agree, it's strange.

Then why are you at a camping board??:confused3 Just curious.

Do you have the kind of res. at POR that can be cancelled up to five days in advance? If so, and you keep your camping stuff packed, I'd keep trying up until you leave to get the fort res. if that's what you'd want the most. I've been able to get completely booked and supposedly impossible to get times by checking the last 5 days before I want to be there. People have res. that they decide to cancel just at the 5 days so they become available then. Or they might make res. for several sites and cancel the ones they don't need. I'd keep trying up until then, too. Good luck getting it!

Sorry, I posted a reply without reading responses and didn't see that you already wrote the same thing! About getting a hard to get time of year; I guess it's like fishing, you have to keep trying until you get a bite.

I was asking some questions earlier about trick or treating around the fort for my wife as she was planning on driving the kids down from Ontario in October for Halloween and I liked some of the threads I read so I replied to them is there a problem with that LOL.

We love the Pepper Market the food is so good and it is completley different from any other place in any of the resorts plus the Fajitas are sooo damn good LOL. I would say CSR is our second favourite resort behind the All Star resorts. We prefer these resorts even to our DVC resorts but DVC made so much sence to us on a monetary level for the length of time and as often as we come to Disney.
