We are going to be at Universal in Oct and we are considering Horror Nights but I am a BIG chicken. Does anyone know how scary it actually is?

Very scary, but very fun.

There will be chainsaw wielders, flames everywhere, ghouls, zombies, etc.

And they're out to GET YOU! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: (They won't touch you, though)

Don't forget a bit disgusting.Never touch the walls unless you want a petroleum jelly like substance on your hands, and of course my favorite, the smell in the bathrooms of the insane asylum houses!!

remember when burger digs stunk so bad people would not eat there in the day time during hhn......?
wasn't that in 03, Shady Brook......ah, memories....

As others have pointed out...HHN is scary but LOTS of fun. It depends upon your tolerance level as to whether you could take it or not.

how did metro's post of 8:44 get behind mine??

just curious...

Hahaha- I was touched to, and accidently touched someone in ShadyBrook in '06, where he then followed me throughout the house whispering in my ear "I'm gonna tell" Totally made my night, very funny but really creepy!!!

The haunted houses aren't much different then the haunted houses you'll find across this country in October. What makes Universal so special is that there's no driving involved to get from house to house, just walking. The pathways are also scare zones with decorations and scare-actors. They also have the annual Bill and Ted show that's usually a riot. If you can do haunted houses normally, you should be able to do HHN.

See that's the problem....I can't really do haunted houses-they freak me out-hence my problem....I want my friends to go without me but they don't want to....

If that's the case, you probably shouldn't go. I suggest bringing along a friend (or more) that also doesn't (don't) want to do HHN and hang out at Citywalk, while the rest of the group does the event. My wife doesn't do haunted houses either, so for this upcoming trip, we're bringing along my parents to keep her company while I do the HHN event. We did this 2 years ago and it worked good.

Hmmm..that's a tough one then. It's a shame to spend the money and not do the houses but that's what it sounds like you'll need to do. :confused3

Well, since the majority of HHN's appeal is its haunted houses (and they are MAJOR haunted houses), I wouldn't waste the $$ if I were you. The shows are fun, but the houses are the biggest part of it and they are very intense (I say that as a person who has probably done every major house in the Chicago area and in various parts of the country).

Yeah, as everyone else said, it might not be a good idea if the houses freak you out. There are also scareactors outside the houses, as well. They walk around certain parts of the streets and scare people so it may be difficult for you to avoid them....and they do not take pity on anyone! :rotfl: . I've seen it done many times over the years and they didn't even take pity on an eleven year old girl (not me, but a family friend who begged to go one year). The poor kid was hysterical, but they were still chasing her and used their skills to corner her by other scareactors.:lmao:

Thanks for posting this thread - I was thinking the same thing - DH and I will be down there in OCT and DH is trying to get me to go to HHN - we both hate scary movies - never watch them - but he is interested in going to HHN just to check it out as we have never been before.

I dont think it would be worth it as I dont think we would walk through the houses.....but :confused3

Any chance of getting another couple to go with you? That way 2 members can do HHN, while the other 2 (of which 1 is you) hang out at Citywalk. The other option is to post what days you'll be at Universal and see if you can form a meet and greet with others who will not be attending HHN while their partners do.

I have no problem haning out by the pool while they go.....i think i'm just too chicken, lol!!!!

Nothing wrong with that. My wife doesn't enjoy Halloween or scary movies, while I do. I don't try to talk her into doing HHN because I know she won't enjoy it. Fortunately, she'll let me do HHN by myself.

Well I`m probably going against the grain here but I would still go and soak up the fantastic atmosphere even if I wasn`t going to do the houses.
We were newbies last year and only did 2 houses (because of queues) but we loved the whole night. When we told our son (14) we were going back to Orlando at the same time this year the first thing he asked was are we doing HHN again.
Even if we don`t see that many more houses this year I know we`ll still have a great, fun night with lots of laughs.
If I were you I would go and I`ll bet you`ll love it. We did and I`m a bit of a woose. :goodvibes

Agreed...the atmosphere is like no other...which is why I love October in Orlando so much!
