 :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc WARNING !! Just back form 9 days at Disney. Went to Rainforest Cafe, Thur. 5pm with DH, son and dtr. No wait, how cool, but were seated by the entrance to kitchen. Well, I was hit, bumped and thumped on the head, arm and chair 7 times by wait staff, I counted on paper. No kidding, there were 2 tables and wait staff keep comming and going in pairs, at one point I almost had a dirty container of plates in my lap. I told the waitress, she apologized. then it got so bad, that my 9 year old son was reay to do someone in, we left after drinks and chicken wings. I asked to see the manger and recieved a very , oh well, sorry, from her. Not very Disney like at all and I am very angry. Do you think it would do any good to write them a letter and request my bill back, no kidding it was terrible, They had 2 tables for 4 by their kitchen entrance, and should only have had one on one side:( :( :bounce:BEWARE !!

No kidding! Which RFC, at AK park?

After the first thump on the head I would have asked to be moved to another table

I am surprised that you came back and are still so angry after the conversation with the manager. You can try requesting a refund, but why didn't you do it then?

We had a terrible experience at the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney!! The wait was ridiculous ad the service was sooooooo slow! I will avoid that place when we go in March!

I'm sorry to hear that some people have had bad experiences :(

I love the place. We go at least once every trip and have never had a problem.
I would definitley ask to be moved if you are unhappy with the seating.

Remember, Rainforest Cafe is not a Disney business and they are not Disney Cast Members. I agree you should write now (and should have asked to be re-seated then), but it probably won't do much good. We ate at the DD one several times but were disappointed the last couple of times so we don't go there anymore. The atmosphere is wonderful, but the service is not good and the food is WAY overpriced. We also don't go to the one in Grapevine, TX, anymore for the same reasons. Fortunately, our kids are old enough now that it's not the treat for them that it was then.

NADINENURSE,
Was this at the DD or AK location?

We are planning to visit the Rain Forest Cafe at AK, will somebody share there views of it?

Thanks,
Ty

IT is like anything else, you have some good responses and then your negative responses because you never get consistency in a restaurant! We have dined at both locations and enjoy them both, but really liked the AK one. It was a nice change from what little the AK offers for sit down dining. We really enjoyed the food and restaurant and had no problems. But then again we were not placed near a kitchen door which I would imagine is not very pleasant even if you arent getting bumped into. I would hope that you do try the AK one, it was excellent.

We had a similar experience at the AK Rainforest. We had a table for two by the kitchen. All that coming and going kept you on your toes.

In Dec when we were there we went to the RF in DD. They were REALLY pushing their new Safari Card with the promise of a table within 20 minutes. They were telling everyone who came up to the podium 2 hrs. The catch is the card costs $15.00. Once purchased, we did get in quickly. With the card we got a percentage off the bill and a discount in the gift shop. Unfortunately we can't use our card at home since there are no restaurants from that parent company around here. The card does promise something on your birthday and lucky for us, we'll be there on my birthday.
But it was still an expense that I won't use all that often

We had such an all out terrible time at the DD RFC, that we refuse to go again - to any one any where.

Both RFC and PH are some of the worst places to eat at WDW. They get you with decor but after that it is all down hill.

Sorry for your bad experience.

So sorry to hear about your experience. We love RFC and never had any problems. We eat there at least a few times each trip. I hope you give it another chance but I understand if you don't!!!!

I do not mind RF although things do seem to have gotten "blah" there. I like to venture in there, just for old times sake and hear everything. The food i've had has always been good (DD), but it is overpriced. PH....yuck! The whole "great idea" about it wore off a LONG time ago.

We had one bad experience at the Rainforest at the AK, my chicken breast was still frozen. They bent over backwards to make up for the incident. We try to make it back to the RFC whenever we are at WDW since DD really likes to eat there. I think it's rather loud myself.

As already stated RF is not a Disney owned restaurant nor is it staffed with Disney CMs and it shows. The staff at RF are no where near as helpful, courteous etc as CMs. However I must say we enjoy the place. We are always parties of all adults so we sit in the bar area where the complete menu can be ordered from. We never wait for a seat and the food is always good and served in a reasonable amount of time. My last visit I had a shrimp dish, I think it was called Nile Shrimp, it was excellent and no higher priced than the same dish would have been in a Disney owned restaurant.
We also like PH. My kids love the whole movie atmosphere of the place and I like the LA Lasagna dish--it is quite tasty! I do find the servers at PH to have a little better attitude than RF, not a Disney attitude but better than the staff at RF.
Oh and I definitely would have demanded a new table the first time I was hit in the head, if the answer was no I would have paid for the drinks and left.

After the second bash I would have politely asked for a new seat, I am certain they would have complied.

:bounce: after the first bash in the head i was ready, but the kids were right by the elephants, and enjoyed it at first. the waitress, after she returned offered to move us, but this was after we already decided to leave, by that time, it was almost a joke how many times someone would bump the chair or the table, apprently from all the posts, this is a familiar event.

:( sorry you had such a rough time of it!

I've been to the AFK at DTD and at AK. Neither has impressed me. :( Service was rather non-existent each time.

We've always had good luck at the DD location and have never tried the one at AK. We just had lunch at the Dallas area location and we all enjoyed it.

It's funny how this chain is so hit or miss. I too would have demanded another table.
