It is with a heavy heart that I write this review of my former "favorite" restaurant.:sad2:

This was just a quick trip for my family (4 days) and it was our first time on the DDP. We did have some wonderful food (and I intend to do a full review of all restaurants), but my experience with Raglan Road was so bad.....it deserved a review all of it's own.

We had a reservation for 6:15. We wanted to get there when it wasn't too crowded and crazy and hopefully be back at the room around 9:00 for my DD's bedtime (she is 9 months old). It didn't happen that way at all.......

We arrived at 6:10 and we were seated right away. We immediately grabbed the menus and couldn't wait to order the seared scallops and mushroom soup for our appetizers......but......they were both gone!! We then looked at the entrees only to see that the ribs, Kevin's Heavenly Ham and the fish entree were gone. Oh well....at least Paddy's Pork was still on the menu.

Our waitress comes to take our order and my DH and myself each order a beer flight and the scallop forest. Children are not allowed an appetizer here, so we decided to share the scallops with my DS (5 years old). About 30 minutes passes and we still have not even received our drinks! I'm getting a little irritated now and try to find our waitress. I find her and she says, she is right on it. 10 minutes later she finally comes to our table with our cokes and beer. I tell her that we would like to go ahead and order.....she says she will be right back. Well, about 30 minutes later she finds her way back to our table. The scallops STILL hadn't come out.....I was seriously ready to just freakin' leave!

Against my better judgement we stayed and I ordered the Paddy's Pork and my DH ordered the Shephard's Pie. For DS we ordered the fried shrimp with chips. The scallops finally come out and they are divine....huge with a nice crisp breading.

Our entrees took ATLEAST another 30-40 minutes to reach our table and in that time, the waitress had not come back even one time. My husband had to take our empty glasses to the bar to refilled with coke.

Our entrees finally arrive and my Paddy's Pork is NOTHING like it was last time.....it is a smallish piece of pork on a huge bed of mashed potatoes. I lifted the pork and there was only 4 pieces of leeks on the mash potatoes....I kid you not.....*4* pieces. I take a bite of the pork and it was DONE, they wanted to be sure that pig was dead!:scared1: It had been cooked to death and the sausage stuffing tasted like......dog food. I was sooooo disappointed. I ate my potatoes and the scarce sampling of leeks.

My DS did have a nice big portion of fried shrimp and he loved his chips....yay!

My DH said his shephard's pie was OK. Nothing to write home about and the meat was a wee bit dry, but still ok.

After finishing our entrees, it was pushing 8:30 and we were ready to get our bread pudding boxed up and leave. Our waitress is nowhere to be seen.....imagine that.

We ask another waitress if she could find her and let her know we wanted our desserts. *sigh* About 30 minutes later she finally shows up and I tell her we want 2 bread puddings boxed up and our bill. At this point I give her my MYW card so she can take the credits off. She informs me the system is down, so she will bring me the bill for the beer. Okay good.

The bill for the beer comes ( 2 beer flights) and she has added a 20% tip to it. Ummmmm.....I don't freakin' think so! She had to be the worst waitress I have EVER had! It is bad enough she gets an 18% tip for her crappy service but I'll be darned if I'm tipping her one penny more. I kindly ask her WHY she has put 20% on the alcohol bill and she says "Oh, you are on the dining plan, I have to do that". I told her that alcohol was NOT included on the dining plan and I wanted the tip removed. She storms off......

After another lengthy wait a very large man with dark brown hair shows up and loudly asks "What is the problem"  I assume this was the manager, it was....and he was pissed off from the get go.:sad2: I kindly explained to him about the shoddy service and how we have been at his restaurant for 3 hours now. I told him that alcohol was NOT included in the dining plan and I wanted that 20% removed from the bill. He snapped at me "FINE, I'll take it off, but I suggest you find another restaurant to eat at if you are going to quibble over a measly 5 dollars.":scared1: :scared1: He said this so loudly and so mean that my 5 year old son became scared and started crying. I told him that WDW would be hearing from me and he needed to learn manners. He then told me to just leave! :sad2: :sad2:

I have never been so upset in my life! I was literally shaking leaving that place. I immediately went to the concierge desk at AKL and relayed the story to them. They were horrified and wanted to add more dining credits to my plan....I told them there was no need, I just wanted them to know how I was treated.:sad2:

The final insult happened the next day. After my next table service meal, I see that I don't have any table credits left!:scared1: Raglan Road had charged my DDP for 6 adult credits.  I immediately went to the concierge desk and they put the dining credits back in place plus an additional TS for everyone in my party.

It will be a cold, cold day in hell before I step foot back in that restaurant........

I'm sorry! That is terrible! Not only bad service but maliciousness. Attempting to cause harm by saying don't come back and taking extra credits from your DDP should have cost someone a job.

I had a similar experience on our visit back after they first opened. I wasn't spoken to harshly but the service was terrible. It took three hours for us to eat. We only saw our server twice the entire night. I wasn't happy but figured it was the fact that they had only been open a week or so.

I'll cancel my Raglan ARD for Jan 3rd and it may not help but I will mention to the CM that my cancelation is related to comments of poor service. You never know.

I am so sad to hear that! I just posted a glowing review of our wonderful experience. It sounds like they are really hit or miss with their service. I am surprised so early in the evening they were already so busy, but maybe it was just a bad server not overcrowding that was the problem. And with a 9 month old! What a nightmare!

Hi
You're review is unbelievable!! How dare he talk to you like that? You're the customer!! I would've told the manager that he can pay the measley $5.00 tip for me then. I wouldn't have left any extra either. I'm glad you got your credits back. Sorry it wasn't a fun evening for you. I've never been to Ragland Road and now will probably never go there.

Wow, please, please please write a letter to every one and anyone you can think of. Shasta is right not only was this lousy service but I would think it could be considered theft. Your credits are worth money and too intentional charge you for some thing you didn't recieve.....

Maybe their heads are getting a little big from their success.

How horrible!!! We just went to Raglan Road for the first time on Friday 10/17. We got there around 5:15 so there was hardly anyone there. We were immediately seated and we were out of there by 6:00. We did not do the dining plan, my husband had an appetizer and beef stew. I had the fish and chips and my DD(4) had the golden chicken. Everything was great, except for the chicken. I am so sorry to hear about your bad experience , that is the problem with bad servers/managers, they can make or break your whole dining experience. We had a very nice young boy, not overly attentive, but he did the minimum required. Not sure if we will go back but it was ok.

No kidding! At the very least, it sounds like the server needs to be retrained. If the man they spoke to was really the manager, he should be looking for a job. We've encountered bad service occasionally, but the treatment from the possible manager was inexcusable. :sad2:

It really was just unbelievable. My jaw was literally to the ground when the manager was being a jerk! :sad2: The only truly bad food was the Paddy's Pork. The scallops, my son's shrimp and chips and the bread pudding were great.

It was just a nightmare of a dining experience. I had anticipated eating at Raglan Road for months.....it used to be my very favorite restaurant.:sad2: The concierge desk was just agahst when they saw that RR had charged my dining plan for 6 adult credits.....they just couldn't apologize to me enough. I emphasized to them that I did NOT need another TS credit but they insisted. Sooooo......we used those 2 adults credits and 1 child credit to pay for our "neighbor's" meal at Kona one night (they weren't on the DP).:)

I can't believe ANY manager in ANY restaurant would treat a patron this way let alone in the happiest place on earth!! He needs a serious attitude adjustment. I hope the rest of your trip went much better!!

Actually, this was the ONLY low point in the trip! I met a "famous" DISer while there (Danacara), she was actually my table mate at the Biergarten, AND Dan Zane was staying at the AKL, so I talked to him quite a few times!:)
Everytime my son saw him, he started singing "ring, ring doorbell ring, it's house party time"......:lmao:

Also, the food and service everywhere else was AMAZING! Kona is a jewel, an absolute jewel and I can not believe it is only 1 TS credit!! We even cancelled Chef Mickeys (with my 5 year old's consent ;) ) and ate there twice, it was heavenly......

Oh my goodness, what a horrible, horrible experience. I am sorry that happend. I would write a letter to the restaurant and to Disney both about this. I cannot imagine he is the "manager manager" (maybe an assistant)? I am glad that you got the credits back plus comp credits at least.

I am so sorry you had just a terrible experience.

Please write an email explaining everything to

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

Don't forget to include the date, time, names and any other details. This "manager" needs to be fired! And also include your phone number. They will definitely call you back.

I know Raglan Road is not a Disney restaurant but I do think Disney has got to do somethng about the wait in Raglan Road. We went at 4:00 in the afternoon and the restaurant was very, very empty but we waited and waited and waited in between courses. Our waiter was nowhere to be found. Our drinks were never refilled. After we were all done we waited atleast 30 minutes for the check and during our meal I saw the table next to us waiting and the father signaling the waiter to get his attention and he sat at the table for a very long period alone and his family went outside while he sat there waiting for the check. I thought it must of been just been a bad day but it sounds like this happens alot. It wasn't alittle wait like you say we were in that restaurant for a few hours and we also tried to move things along by saying we know what we want for dessert already and as he served dessert we said we would take the check but no go
What a shame because it is such a festive looking restaurant but it could be run so much more efficient.

Reports like this one make me happy that tip will not be included in the dining plan any longer. Yes, it was nice not to have to carry cash but service like that deserves a BIG FAT "0" for a tip. And I'm with the others .....find some addresses and start writing, thats ridiculous.

How horrible !!

We've only had 'cocktales' at Raglan, but found the staff to be very friendly and even charming... (This was last April) I can't believe you'd be treated in such a fashion....

I'd be on the phone to everyone I could think of...

I would have been fuming if someone spoke to me like that. Then again I would have walked out after the first 30 min wait. No-one has the right to speak to you like that especialy in front of your children.

Sounds like the "manager" is dating the "waitress". HA!:goodvibes Seriously, I would write a letter because he not only tried to mess up your dining plan but he made your son cry. Children are very perceptive and he was menacing to your family. NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Sorry this happened to you and thanks for sharing. I'm glad the AKL concierge tried to make it better too.:thumbsup2

WRITE a letter and send it both on snail mail AND e mail. Hard copies cannot disappear as quickly as e mail.

I am quite sure we will not bother trying RR next time we go. There have been too many reports of shoddy service, but this one takes the cake!

But what a wonderful way to use the credits you were given! I'm sure you made your "neighbor's" trip very memorable.
