Horrible food is what I remember about Disney.

The only places that I have a hard time remembering names are the counter service places.

With vague statements and "can't remember all where we ate", I have a hard time taking this seriously. I have to ask, why did you post this? Sounds like just something to get people going.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but could you provide more information? When was your trip? Where did you eat? I am having a hard time figuring out the point of your post. It's fine to not like the food in WDW but why post just that and not give more info and ask for suggestions? Making a statement like that seems pointless.

But we've had great experiences, and, frankly, when traveling with two little kids, at 5:00, anyone who sits me down in air conditioning and brings me a Cosmopolitan and something edible is going to get a good review. LOL!!!! Totally agree, crisi- and what service, too!!!!

My first thought when I read the title of this thread was, "Gee, didn't y'all get to ride anything?"

But, I think perusing these boards might give you some idea of what you might find that would help you change your opinion. There's plenty to eat out there, some better than most, and you might happen up on a real gem.

Why do I think all you remember is horrible food about WDW?

My guesses:

1. You didn't do research and didn't check out restaurants or menus beforehand and didn't choose the best matches for you.

2. You ate mostly counter service or chose mostly "budget" places and got what you paid for.

3. You went a very long time ago and many things have changed since then.

4. You are just trying to stir the sauce.

Only you know for sure.

I can speak for the majority of the crowd that unless you can describe or name at least a few (!) restaurants or dishes, no one will really take this seriously. I mean even my three year old nephew told me he "ate dinner with Mickey where he saw the white train and played with napkins" (Chef Mickey's) and "ate spaghetti next to Miss Piggy's place" (Mama Melrose) and "painted a cookie in the big tree house" (Artist Point) Can't you give any details?

I suddenly only remember one thing about my trip too. The Safari. I remember when the tour guide said.

It's so interesting to see how different people have different memories and different opinions about their trips.

For DH and I, we crave Disney food! I literally crave the chicken strips! I haven't found chicken strips that I think is on par with Disney's chicken strips - there's just something about the breading and how it's always fresh and hot. Eat it with some pickles and mustard... YUMMY!

When we plan trips to WDW, the first thing we plan is where to eat... what favorite places we have to eat at, what new restaurants we have to try. We'll pore over the menus on allearsnet for hours - calling WDW-DINE over and over to cancel and rebook another ADR. And that's even before the trip happens.

Holly, I hope you had other good memories of your trip other than the food, because I hate to see someone have just bad memories of WDW trip.

Too true! My kids can tell you that they adore Beaches and Cream--all three by name--that Chef Mickey, or the monorail place is really fun and that they think the hotdogs at the stripey place (Casey's) are really yucky. They also must go to "the balloony place that used to have a fountain but doesn't anymore" every trip! (Sunshine Seasons in THe Land.) They also adore the place "where the guy cooks on your table and Mommy burned her hand" which would be Tepanyaki.

And Crisi--you and I have a very similar view of fine dining!

I was ready to get on here and post tips and talk about that fact that we've never had a bad meal at WDW(the worst was at San Angel Inn, but even it wasn't BAD)....but with the lack of explanation by the OP, I'm thinkin' I agree with other posters...someone is just trying to

Wow...that's amazing. I've done probably 15+ Disney trips and maybe just maybe one time can remember one bad meal....that's it....

Everyone's taste buds are different obviously but when I think of Disney food...I think of Mickey waffles fresh orange juice for breakfast at Chef Mickeys....the smells and tate of Boma's when we went the first time....Artisis Point's succulent salmon....the fabulous stacked sandwiches on focaccia bread the last time at Whispering Canyon Cafe....walking down main street and smelling those cinammon rolls I Yi Yi.....the wine in France....the fantastic steak I had @LeCelliar.....the grapefruit cake at BD...I could go on and on!!

I can't say as I've ever truly been disappointed with food at Disney...(and if I were, I would surely seek out a manager and express my thoughts).

I can be a horrible food snob. I'd never call Le Cellier "fabulous" - its a "pretty good steak for the money" (and the Torontopolitan is a pretty good version of a Cosmo), but I've had far better steaks (and usually paid more for them). But when your expectations are reasonable, and you've been on your feet for the past nine hours, the kids decided after you got to the FRONT of the Magic Kingdom that they really DID want to ride Haunted Mansion, its ninety degrees, and you've been known to pay $7 for a HOT DOG at a ball game - Disney food is good and reasonable and they let you sit down while you eat it.

We've been disappointed in some restaurants at Disney. I suspect I ordered wrong at Jiko and the well prepared food wasn't to my liking, but the waiter was horrible, too. Our last trip to Narcoosees involved good soup, bad dessert, and a steak that was inferior to the one at Le Cellier but cost $10 more. My biggest disappointment was Boma, but see - they didn't let me sit down there - I had to keep getting up for food! So it only got half points on the critical first step "let me sit and bring me a drink."

(Come to think of it, both the Boma and Jiko waitstaff were deliquent in bringing me a SECOND drink - that may have as much to do with my disappointment as anything!)

No offense, but exactly what were you expecting when you made an ADR at a buffet? Do you think it's fair to only give them "half the points" for having to get your own food if you're the one who chose to do a buffet?
