Horrible, Awful, Disgusting Meals

Its been to hard for me to decide on the Restaurants that I want to try on my upcoming trip.

So rather then continuing on asking about the best meals, it will be easier to decide on where not to eat.

I'd like to here about the worst places or bad experieces. And I that not everyone's experiences are the same. Thanks

Our worst meal by far was Dinenr at chef Mickeys. The food was cold bland and over cooked. I didn't like anything I tried except for the deserts. We were seated up stairs(4 or 5 steps). Who would put steps in a buffet restaurant full of kids? We saw our server 2X, when he took our drink order and when he dropped off the check. The place is LOUD, horribly LOUD. Characters were great, but other that doesn't make up for Non existent service, uneatable food and those stupid steps.

We had a pretty bad time at Garden Grille...food VERY average, and service...well, there was no service! Will not try this again!

We've tried Mama Melrose twice and had bad service and lousy food both times. Alfredo's was another mistake. The kid's spaghetti at Sci-Fi should be illegal.
Take heart; we have enjoyed most of our Disney dining experiences!

Wouldn't rate any dining experience we've had at WDW as horrible, awful, or disgusting..with the exception of the service at Fultons.
"Not good' might describe our experience with the the service and decor at Big River Grille.
Actually, Fulton's is about the only place I'm never expecting to eat at ever again---.

My least favorite restaurants due to taste of food and service are Mama Melrose's and Sci-Fi both at Disney Studios.

Even the best restaurants can be hit and miss on occasion. I've worked in 4* restaurants with excellent reputations and we still had the occasional unhappy patron. The business is just set up that way. You try to do the best you can, but invariably, stuff happens. I've had good and bad meals at Prime Time Cafe, Cape May cafe, Chef Mickeys, Mama Melrose, Pecos Bills, and many others. Just pick what sounds good to you, go in with a great attitude and hope for the best. Also, going when there is not an hour wait time, off peak meal times, and when they look fully staffed is a good idea too. Good luck!

I'm glad to finally see a review of chef Mickey's that echoes my experience there! I took my oldest son there for a special meal. We found the restaurant VERY loud , and the food cold or lukewarm at best and bland.
We were seated next to a huge table of 2 families with very loud and out of control kids (literally yelling and having a food fight with candy from the dessert bar). I love kids (I have 3 myself), but I think parents should see that they behave decently in a restaurant.

We had a really crappy meal at Sci-Fi Diner. They know how to flip burgers, but don't try anything more exotic than that.

Also, we had an over-priced, under-enjoyed lunch at Brown Derby, once. Never been back.

In fact, we generally try to avoid eating at Disney Studios at all... We'd rather take a boat to the Boardwalk.

See, ya just never know.
We have eaten at BD on three different trips and enjoyed it each time. Not our favorite restaurant. But good food, for us. And I suspect you will read the same about any WDW restaurant, except for maybe a chosen few, like Flying Fish.
I admit I have not been brave enough to eat at 9 Dragons because of what I have read here. Plus I figure I can get good chinese here. Why waste a meal like that when there are so many good ones to choose from at WDW?
I can't think of any off hand that were HORRIBLE. But I know of a few we won't return to because of various reasons (bad service, overpriced, etc)
* CA Grille ($$$$$ and miniature portions. Service was below average. Food was good though -- what we had of it! )
* Bistro (Chef's is just as good, IOHO, and costs half as much)
* Mama Melrose's (Only ate here once. What I had was good but way too pricey for what it was. DH liked his, but agreed not enough of a variety. And bad table service topped it off.)
* Many of the counter services/fast food burger area. Eat only when necessary. Much better off getting a decent walk up meal at places in World Showcase -- like the Norway bakery or even the Fountainview Bakery in Epcot.
I ate at the Pasta/Potato area at the Land on Memorial Day last year and was so surprised at how good it was. We ordered the same meal at P/P this last trip and it was not good at all. (Bland, but elidible) So I will probably not repeat that one. 50/50 chance of food being good.

We ate at 1900 Park Faire when they had the Villains meal. The characters were awesome, but the food was gross.
I will never eat again at Nine Dragons - ordinary Chinese food for extraordinary prices.

I have to agree with Planet Hollywood. My kids loved the decor, but the food was not that great. We paid $12.00 for 3 rootbeers (with no refills). I made the girls hold them up and I took a picture. For that price we were going to have something to show for it. I also have to agree with Chef Mickey's. We always do this our last night. Not anymore. We too were seated "upstsairs". We saw our waiter twice and the character interaction was very poor. It seemed like they forgot about us. On a positive note, the desserts were GREAT! Hopes this helps, I hate dwelling on the negative stuff but, you are going to be paying big $$ for food and need to make the best choices!

I have honestly never had a bad meal at WDW. But I have had places I probably wouldn't try again.
I wasn't thrilled with Planet Hollywood. I didn't have bad food, but have been to the one in NYC quite often and it is nor really all that different.
I also would not go to ESPN zone again. I wasn' t thrilled with the choices, however, my bf loved it. I guess it is just a matter of opinion.

Places we avoid (although others seem to like):

Rainforest Cafe: worst service I ever had at any restaurant on the face of the Earth; this sems endemic to Rainforest as I went to one elsewhere and it was just as bad.

Morrocco: food is just not good.

China: very bland food at extremely high prices.

Tony's: Palios at Swan and Portobello in DD are much better Italian restaurants

Sci-Fi: Just don't like those car like seats which are very uncomfortable.

Portobellos - even though it's DTD. We thought the service was bad and the waiter was rude and not interested in us because we did not order drinks with our meals. Everyplace else we have liked!!

Hmm ... I'm wondering if I should rethink dinner at Chef Mickey's or at least try for an earlier PS... Noisy I can tolerate. Bad service and food fights (yikes!) make me nervous.

I just looked at the menu at www.wdwig.com for dinner at Nine Dragons .... $17.95 for my favorite, Moo Goo Gai Pan ? That is more than double for the same thing at a Chinese restaurant here in Connecticut!

Another vote for Chef Mickeys but for breakfast. Agree with the one of the previous posts, cold food and we saw the server when she took drink order and left the check. Never came back and asked about drink refills or how the food was. But I have to say this was our only bad experience.

Crystal palace character lunch buffet was my worst WDW experience, characters-pooh, tigger & eeyore were great though !

Best was the Brown derby, still remember my grouper w/lemon sauce & the frozen mudslide with the little chocolate derby perched on top.
I guess you can just hit some good restaurants on some bad days.
