Does this resort have 1 bdrms with a full kitchen? Has anyone ever stayed in one? Thanks!

Yes, Horizons has 1 bedrooms with a full kitchen. We stayed in a 2 bedroom lockoff last April in the one bedroom side. The 2 bedroom lockoffs are new (this resort used to be only 2 bedrooms). The one bedrooms are in the new Building 28/29 (the buildings are together shaped like an L).

I liked this resort so much that we bought a resale Horizons in Branson (found a good deal) to get in the Marriott system after our stay at Horizons Orlando. Absolutely loved our stay.

to find a cheap way to stay there? This trip is supposed to be a "bonus" trip, so I'm trying to keep it as reasonable as possible. Thanks!

Do you have a family member that owns a timeshare and is a member of Interval International? We own a Marriott timeshare and when I look at Interval International extra vacations for cash "Getaway weeks" I see Horizons come up for May for $479 for a full week in a 2 bedroom. You would have tax on that and a guest certificate fee of $39.00. So by the time you add all that in it would cost you somewhere around $578 for a week in a two bedroom. I know people that own every other year timeshares (with cheap maintenence fees) just to be a member of Interval International for the great prices on Getaway weeks. :)

Last year when we stayed at Horizons I only needed 2 nights so I didn't purchase a getaway for that trip. I paid $135 a night for the one bedroom (before tax) and I got that rate through signing up for a Marriott rewards card (it's free to sign up) and using the M11 code for rewards members.

We bought our every other year timeshare week at Marriott Horizons Branson for $1,200. I looked for a bargain for 6 months and finally found one. It's an off season week 2 bedroom that divides into a 1 bedroom and a studio. We trade it through Interval and get a week every year with it. We travel off season so it works well for us. Maintenance fees are $300 a year. Between trading our Horizons week and buying Interval's cash getaways, we are staying at some wonderful vacation club properties for anywhere from $50 to $70 a night. We also own DVC points, but our little every other year Marriott 2 bedroom lock-off purchase has been fantastic for vacation value. I think the developer sells the week we bought for $8,900 - yikes.

I don't have any friends or family members that own timeshares at all. I guess I'll just have to keep my eye out for any specials . Thanks for your infor though!!

Hi Chris,

Sometimes vacationclub.com (marriott's vacation club site) has specials that come up when you punch in various dates of travel. I punched in October 10 through 14 and some various specials came up. It looks like there is a Seaworld and Disney special package. I think the Seaworld package is the better deal - tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids for the length of stay in a 2 bedroom for 4 nights for $822. Just go to vacationclub.com and then resort directory and pick Marriott Horizons. Then you can punch in various dates. If you call them, they might be able to tell you what specials are available for certain dates. Sometimes they have Disney Visa specials, too. If you pay with a Visa, you get a special rate on a 4 or 5 night package at the Orlando Marriott vacation club resorts.

Good luck.
