Hopper Passes and AAA

I am considering prepurchasing 4-day Hopper Passes through AAA and just wondered what the AAA passes are made of? Are they the plastic 'credit-card type' that are issued at WDW? If not, do they hold up pretty well with all the 'hopping'. Also, I think I read somewhere about exchanging paper passes for plastic once you arrive at WDW. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Is it worth the time? Thank you in advance of the info.

The plastic tickets can only be gotten through Disney. Any outside ticket source (AAA, Paramount, Ticketmania, etc) will only have the mylar paper tickets.

My AP is made of "paper" & gets used dozens of times before it gets replaced. The only time I have to replace it is if it gets de-magnetized or wet & wrinkled.

I was just at my local AAA yesterday and asked about 5-Day Hoppers. (I wondered if they were vouchers that had to be exchanged for actual tickets at the gate.) The AAA cashier showed me one, and it LOOKED just like a credit card - same size, plastic, with a magnetic strip on the back. The advertised price was $225, a savings of about $19.

I've also been thinking about buying 5-Day Hoppers at the local Disney Store - isn't there supposed to be a discount on tix bought in advance there? I vaguely remember the price was even better than AAA's.

Our local AAA (Bloomington, IL) beat the Disney Store price (the same as advanced purchase online) by $20 for (4) 5-day park hoppers. Ours were cardboard. They did get pretty wrinkled and worn out by the end of our trip after all of the turnstiles, fastpass machines, etc. I understand that each local AAA may get different passes and offer different prices, however....
