If you want to visit 2 parks in a day do you have to buy the park hopper or can use another day from the multi day? I don't want to hop each day so it would be cheaper to add 2 days to a regular ticket. Has anyone done this?

To change parks inside of one day, you are required to purchase a hopper.

This used to be the way, but Disney got hip to it and now if you try to visit 2 parks in one day( even if you bought and extra base ticket) you will get an access denied at the park gate and will not be allowed in..just another way for disney to chrg xtra$$$$

That's not fair at all.

The new method allows guest to choose to only pay for the minimum of what they will actually USE.
Not all guests even WANT to "hop" (takes too much time, etc.)

If you look at how much an "extra DAY" costs on a, say, 5-day MYW ticket (upgrading a 5-day to a 6-day).
It is just $2.00 (plus tax) for that extra day.

That is to encourage you to spend an extra DAY (or more) at WDW (and not go elsewhere.)

Hopping is another idea, entirely.
Allowing that as a "freebie" would encourage guests to spend FEWER days at WDW.

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $2.00 per day over five days on an adult ticket, but charges $45 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

This isn't actually true. If you want to buy two base tickets instead of buying the hopper option, you could use them at different parks on the same day. This wouldn't be a very economical way to visit the parks, but it isn't something the Disney system would disallow.

Actually, I see it as the other way around. It's a way for Disney to charge less for people who don't want all the bells and whistles on their tickets.

If all tickets were good for hopping, they'd most-likely cost what a hopper ticket costs now. Everyone would have to pay that higher cost, even if they didn't want to hop.

In the past, all tickets used to be non-expiring. That was great in one respect - the tickets never expired. However, on the other hand, you didn't get the great deals on additional days past 4 costing only a few dollars per day. The cost of visiting the parks for 10 days was significantly higher than staying 6 or 7.

I think the current MYW ticket options are a great way to match the right ticket to the specific desires/needs of the individuals buying them.
