:wizard: We are planning our trip for March 15th-21st 2008. This will be
our third time to go for this time of year. We stayed at the POFQ last 2 times.
Want to try the WL because of the great reviews and for the beauty
of the hotel. Should I book the WL now and hope for a pin code later?
Have they ever given discounts for this hotel? :confused3

I wouldn't hold your breath for a PIN - those seem to be few and far between (just ask the many people who've been to WDW many many times and have never received one). However, you may get a CODE - if you'd like to see the history of codes over the last few years, specific to your date, go here: http://www.mousesavers.com/historicalwdwdiscounts.html#codetrends

The short answer is: maybe :) Sorry there isn't better news than that. I would love a code as well for my first WL trip next May. But I've had to tell myself that you should never book a resort if you're not willing to pay full price. Ergo, I'm choking a little but have just budgeted assuming I will pay out the honker for the WL.

Edited to add: don't forget that AAA usually offer a 10% discount for deluxes. Granted, if you have to enroll with AAA to get the discount it diminishes your savings, but I figured out for me it was still some savings off the rack rate AND I'd end up with a membership. :) Though my usual strategy is just to have my TA book it at the AAA rate, with instructions to switch me to a code if one comes out. Since I don't need to show a AAA membership card until check-in, it's easy to hedge on buying one until the last minute. Obviously, so far I've been lucky enough to get a code and have never had to go through with buying a AAA membership.

I know it's a longshot. I have received a pin code every time I have booked.
But I'm pretty sure my luck is about to run out. This will probably be the last
time we go for awhile because my children are getting at the age where
they are involved in alot of sports and school activities. So I'm going to
bite the bullet and book the WL and hope for the best. I can't wait! I just
loooovvee DISNEY!

Well I guess the bullet just shot me in the rear! Called to get a quote
on WL in March. Just put it this way, I won't be able to convince
my husband to pay that much. $393.00 for a Woods view. They
didn't have any standard ones available. Needless to say I booked
the POFQ and I'll be just as happy! I'm always HAPPY IN DISNEY!!!

Tinkertot:

I was just about to recommend that you call Disney immediately if you wanted a standard view room at the WL. We have stayed at the CBR the last two years and decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra money to stay at the WL in June, 2008. Because our vacation is going to be $1,000.00 more to stay at the WL, I could only afford a standard view room.

When I called Disney reservations, I was told that there was a very limited number of standard view rooms at the WL and I should go ahead and book a room only reservation until the 2008 package rates come out. I'm glad I did this because my brother and sister-in-law thought about coming along with us and when they called Disney reservations, all standard view rooms were booked!
