I went to my local Apple Store at 6:00 AM this morning and got lucky. I was number 52 in line when I got there. Some people had gotten there at midnight. By the time they got to me, they were out of all the AT&T 3G models. I was able to get a 32GB wifi model in white, which is what I wanted in the first place.

Personally, I much preferred the way they had it when the iPad 1 came out, where you would be placed on a wait list and be called when they came in to the store.

I waited on line for 6 hours on Saturday in Stamford, CT. I was lucky to get the 32GB white that we wanted. I also picked up a 64GB for DH that he decided he no longer wants since it doesn't have 3G. I can't believe I got up at 6am and he changed his mind.

Putting it on eBay could be quite lucrative considering the shortage.

Got mine about a week ago (64 GB, black, WiFi). Love it, love it, love it! So far, I've mainly been using it to stream video and as a "couch computer" -- checking email surfing the web, and so on while not at my desk.

Things to check out eventually:
- taking notes using keyboard
- taking notes using handwriting (and recs for a good stylus and note-taking program?)

I got one last week. Its been harder here to get them. You have to go to the apple web site the night before and reserve it and come to apple in thier 15 minute window. First night I couldnt get it in the gig I wanted. So the next night I got the one I wanted, but by the time I got all logged in to the site ( because you cant do it ahead of time) it was sold out, so I got a 32g in white with wifi. Wanted black but so far Im cool with the white. We got the smart cover and Im not so sure about it. So far Im liking it alot. Just cant figure out how to get the chat feature here to work on it.

Ours came last Tuesday. I got the orange cover with mine and so far I really like it. It is very practical and easy to manipulate.
I also set an appointment up with a local surgeon to have it surgically removed from DH's hand.
He came to me the other day with his Ipad in his left hand and a pair of pajama bottoms in his right and told me, "I am not to be disturbed". His came with the engraving "Resistance is Futile" and mine says "ToddyLu's DIS Pad".

Did anyone get the Smart Cover? If so, what do you think?

It's ok. I thought that it would clean the screen better than it does. I got it in pink. I like it as the little rest triangle for surfing. I'm just worried that my two or four year old is going to pick it up by the cover and drop it.

I got a leather Smart Cover and really like it. The. Triangle stands both work well for me (in vote typing and viewing position), and the magnetic auto sleep is a nice feature. As a PP said, the screen does get kinda smudgy, but that's not a huge deal to me, since I have tons of microfiber cleaning cloths floating around.
