We just returned from our first trip to WDW 3 weeks ago. One thing I wanted to do was go to the Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue, but I didn't want to cram to much into our first trip.

I'm already planning our next trip & I wanted some information on this dinner show. I know the basics, but what do they actually do there? Will my kids 8 and 7 enjoy it? How much does it cost? What kind of food do they serve?

Thanks for any information and help. :p !

Thanks a bunch!!

IMO, the show is hilarious and the food was great, not gourmet, but I dont like gourmet, so it was just my speed. My kids & nieces(2.5, 5.5, 9 & 12) loved it. We have seen it twice in 2 years now and still laugh everytime we watch our video. Ithink its something everyone should try once.

Here is the info from wdwig.com ....

The Hoop-Dee-Doo review is one of the longest running shows at Walt Disney World. There are 3 shows nightly, 5:00pm, 7:15pm, and 9:30pm. The shows last approximately 2 hours.

Entertainment: While you enjoy an all you can eat dinner, you are entertained by good old fashion country western singers, dancers and comedians. Be prepared for slapstick, corny jokes and lots of singing and dancing.

Your meal, brought to your table includes: fried chicken, pork ribs, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake! Unlimited beer, sangria and soft drinks are also included in the price.

Cost - $49.01 for adults and $24.81 for children 3-11; tax and gratuity included.

Reservations can be made up to 2 years ahead of time! Tables are assigned in the order in which reservations are made. There is 2 tiered seating...the main floor and upstairs in the balcony. Shows can sell out during busy times of the year.

Discounts are sometimes available - Disney resort guests paying with American Express card receive a discount of 20% at the late show. American Express Card Holders not staying on Disney property 10% off 9:30 p.m. show, reservations required.

Special Meals - If you have special dietary needs, be sure to make that clear when you make your reservation. You should be given a phone number to call 48 hours in advance to make arrangements for your meal.

Directions: The show is held at Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness.

Fort Wilderness guests may board either the internal bus or the Crockett bus to the Settlement Depot.

Non-Fort Wilderness guests can drive, take the boat from the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge or Magic Kingdom or take a bus from the Ticket and Transportation Center.

DH and I went to HDD on our honeymoon and he loved it. I think he ate 5 or 6 pieces of fried chicken. We haven't been back since 1999 since it is kind of expensive, but will be taking the entire family next Xmas. For 6 adults and 2 kids the cost was about $350.00.

I made my priority seatings yesterday. If you make a seating for 8 or more people, you have to go through group reservations and prepay. The entire amount is due 21 days before your reservation. This I didn't know and was a little surprised, but I suppose it makes sense.

Hope this helps.

I agree with CamColt. We just went in December. The last time we were there was about 6 years ago. This time was just as good as the last. The food could have been a bit warmer. but everything else was great. Our 6 year old loved it. He was clapping right along and laughing with the rest of us.

The only suggestion I would make is get your ressies early. We were upstairs and you eat facing away from the balcony but if you turn your seat. you are right against the railing and can see everything. You are not looking over your table to see down stairs. I think that is why the food wasn't that warm. It is hard to eat and watch the show at the same time, if you are upstairs. turning back and forth. HOwever the show does take a little bit of an intermission so you can eat.

well, sorry that is so long.

I am a good Southern cook, and I have to admit that the fried chicken served at the Hoop Dee Doo was the best I've ever put in my mouth! Inside was tender and really juicy, outside was very crispy. Makes my mouth water just remember it from a couple weeks ago.

I booked this reluctantly last year--it didn't appeal to me, but I thought the kids would enjoy it. But we all had the best time. The fried chicken really was good--and I don't even normally like fried chicken. The ribs were terrible, but everything else was great. My kids, ages 8 and 5 were practically on the floor, they were laughing so hard. We were seated front and almost center and at one point my daughter called out something to the players, she was so caught up, and they responded.

Once is enough (at least for me), I probably wouldn't go back for a while, but we did have a surprisingly good time.

We went in October (I took my parents for Mother's/Father's Day gifts). My kids (5 and 7) were laughing SO hard! We all had a great time. I absolutely pigged out!! The show was very funny and very well done. I will definitely do this again!

Just to reiterate what the others said, I thought the fried chicken was the best I have ever had too. Like kbeverina, fried chicken isnt one of my favorites(but I do like it enough to eat it), but I found myself looking for more of this stuff.
I thought the ribs were tasty, but they were a little tough.

I agree it sounds like a lot of money, but I feel it actually turns out to be a bargain. Between all the food, pitchers of beer(they seem to be very generous with these ;) ), and the show, you really get your money's worth.

We loved it!! I highly recommend it-our kids (2 and 9) had a blast!! I made our reservations for this 11 months before our visit and we had wonderful seats on the floor very near the stage. If you think you want to go it is not too early to call-they take reservations as far as 2 years in advance!

Thanks everyone! I think I will definately try this on our trip. Thanks for all the information!

We went to Hoop-Dee-Doo twice this year, and loved it both times! It is something that must become an annual event. :)

We went to HDDR on 12/1/02 this year and it was great has always. We've went to HDDR every year since 1989.The food is good and the show is always great. On a side note we've have seen many cast changes through the years. All the performers have done a great job. We went iin 1999 and noticed the male lead singer and comic two bits had changed.Later in our trip we saw Hunchback show at MGM,guess what at end of that show the actors were going back stage and has they did some were removing thier masks worn during show and I saw two bits and male lead they just were doing Hunchback Show instead of HDDR.I know this to be true because I yelled hi two bits and he turned and came back and shook my hand and said thanks for noticing him. I said I hoped to see him in HDDR again has he was my favorite two bits. He smiled and said it could happen he loved doing the character two bits. Sorry for going on and on:D

hi all,
i have just booked this for a may trip and have a couple of questions. i understand you can order Sangria or beer with your meal. can anyone explain what sangria is like? i have heard it is similar to wine? i like red wine if it is dry...do you think i would like this? also, has anyone had a recent experience with busses after the show? i am going to the 9:30 show and have heard there are busses waiting when you are finished....but have to get back to CSR and am going solo. would i be better trying to get a taxi?

thank you:D

Sangria is a fruity red wine - definitely not dry. You can also get other types of wine if you prefer - I had some Chardonnay, served in a jelly jar! It wasn't the best wine I've ever had, but it was not bad!

thanks CRCrazy,
did you have to pay more for the Chardonnay, or was it still included in the price of your meal?
