Anyone been to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue lately? Do you think it is worth 2 table service meals?

Personally I would not spend one (1) dining credit on the HDDR. My wife and I were there a couple of years ago, the show was very hokey (you alraeady know all the jokes). But the real disappointment was the food, cold fried chicken cold ribs. The only good thing was the Strawberry shortcake, not one of my favorites. Disney has so many better restaurents that are two credits Narcoosee's, Citrico"s Jiko, etc... Don't waste your time with the HDDR.

I have been to the hoopy doo many times and i really like it if you have never been it is something you should see at least once every time we have gone we had good meals but i guess it may not be for everyone but how bad can you mess up chicken, ribs and the rest me,my wife inlaws and my brother inlaw and wife all had a great time last oct when we went

You must do it at least once. My 8 and 2 year old loved it. Esp. my 8 year old son. He laughed so hard at all the potty humor. It is a disney classic. Think about it this way. Hoop dee has been running over 10 years, there must be something to it.

I plan on using 2 table service meals on Mickey's Backyard Barbeque... I don't know if it will be worth it, but it seemed like a nice time for our group of 10. It was a hard decision to "give up" 2 table service meals for this, but maybe by the time we go to this we will be looking for a change from table service anyhow...
Good luck with making your decision...

We did it in 2007 & it was on our family's must do list for this summer. So, yes we plan to use 2 TS. We enjoyed the food & loved the show! We have done the Backyard Barbeque in the past & my DDs enjoyed it--but prefer the HDDR now that they are older.

Um, I can personally tell you its been running over 25 years with the same exact script. So I agree, there must be something to it. I love it. Its corny and the food is average at best, and I'd never miss it. I remember seeing back in either '80 or '82. I'd like to hear from a real old-timer who can tell me exactly how long that show has been running.

We've done HDDR four times, and are planning to do it again on our next trip. Obviously we think it's worth 2 credits.

We didn't care for the BBQ. I'm glad we tried it, but I doubt we'll ever do it again.

just wondering what you all think of the LUau show at the Polynesian..which do you think is better? also going w/two boys 7 n 9! I did not want to waste 2TS credits, but w/all the hard time i'm hearing about booking i'm thinking this might be a good thing..

My whole family loves it. We have seen it three times. My hubby requested it for this trip and everyone screamed "yeah !" I have a tween girl and two teen boys and they laugh like little kids every time. The food is OK, but we don't really go for the food.

We loved it!!! I'm not much for Dinner shows or country anything, but I thought while on Deluxe Dinning we would give it a try! We thought it was so much fun! I have a hard time convincing my husband to go back to Disney but this year after he said yes he wanted to know if we were going to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue...

I've done HDDR 7 times and always had great food and service. The show is corny on a whole old level, and, oh yeah, beer and wine is included in the price. So is the tip, but we have always been so impressed with our servers, we throw a bit more in.

It is great to hear all the good feedback, I booked this as an impulse to celebrate my DFIL 75th Birthday! It sound like I made a good choice:goodvibes

was first performed in the summer of '74. It was originally done as a college program. I'm not positive that the script is exactly the same but believe it is.

We went to HDDR last year and we all loved it (4 adults and 2 kids). While I don't know if I would go again (or at least not for a few years). It was a fun show and while the food wasn't a 5 star restaurant quality, it was good food.

I have been to the Luau at the Poly and thought it was horrible. The food was NOT good and the show was below average (IMO). Many of the people on stage seemed bored themselves.

One thing about HDDR that I wish I had known before we went is that you can request a hot dog or mac & cheese for the kids. MY DS is a picky eater at at the time didn't even like fried chicken (he now likes a drumstick). So, he mostly ate cornbread that night. However, he LOVED the show, so it was okay.

If you haven't done HDDR, I say go see it!!!

I would say it is one of my familys favorite things to do in Disney. We love the food. The show is great. Is it a little hokey (yes) but that is what makes it so great. We were there last year and they picked my DD(7) to start the show. They called out her name and the city that we were from. Then the let her hit the dinner bell to call everyone in. What a great time. Oh ya one more thing. All of the the beer, wine, or drink you want.

We are going back to Disney this Aug and my whole family made sure that I made reservations at the HDDR. I did and can't wait for the show.

THis is why I love this DIS. I had no clue you can do this. My DD's will be thrilled. Thanks:)

I think if you've never done it, absolutely! We really enjoyed ourselves. I don't think it's something we'd do every year, but certainly once every few years.

We went last year which was our 5th trip to WDW in 6 years. My DS 8 had a ball and got most of the jokes. He even got to play a washboard as an instrument.

The food was basic but good but the show was a hoot! If you don't want to use 2 TS you can always pay OOP and save the credits for a more expensive restaurant. I did think it was worth the price of admission to say the least and I was really happy that we decided to go.
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
