Can the HDDR be booked 180 days + 10 or exactly 180 days from the date you want. If it is 180+10, I don't think that would be fair, as seating is done according to the order ressies are booked. Someone going the same night as another could end of being able to make their ressies as much as 10 days before someone else depending on their arrival date. Please tell me it is exactly 180 days from date wanted.

I thought HDDR was one of the places you could make reservation 2 years in advance. If it has changed recently, I guess I'm not aware of it. The tables are assigned in order of reservation date, but most people don't reserve all that far in advance (assuming you can still make reservations 2 years out).

Good luck!

Starting with 2007 ressies, you can only make HDDR ressies 180 days out. It's the 10+ part I'm not clear on.

It used to be that you had to call, each day, for your different meals. You would call at 90 days for your checkin day meal, then the next day you would have to call (again, 90 days before) for your second day reservations, and so on. Now, you call one time, at 180 days before your checkin. You may then make all your reservations for the first 10 days of your stay, rather than having to call each day. There have been people that have reported that they called 190 days before their checkin date and CMs allowed them to book but that's not how it's supposed to work. If you check in on Oct 1, then you call April 1, and get all your reservations, for your entire trip...not just for Oct 1.

As far as the assignment of seats at HDDR...the jury seems to still be out on that one!! We've heard reports that it is based on when you make your reservation, reports of it's being based on when you pick up your tickets, and some even reported it being based on when you get to the podium.
I've done it before, and can only say that it isn't based on when you get to the podium!! We were the second group to check in and we were seated along the side in the balcony. Now....we had booked about 9 months in advance but Hurricane Charley shut Ft. Wilderness down for several days, and of course, that was when we had reservations. So, we had to rebook for later in the week. I booked for our Oct HDDR meal back in Nov '04!! It's my dd's 13th birthday and we're hoping for a better table than the last time. We will also pick up our tickets when we checkin at the resort this time.

I really do think that at least in the past the seating was assigned based on when reservations were made. In 1999 I made reservations for our HDDR visit for August 2000. We had a seat second from the front row on the main floor. I guess the reservation was made about 18 months in advance, and because we were there in "slow" season we got a great table. I will be calling at 180 days this time to make our ressie for next May. Can't wait.

thought I would pass on what three different CM's told us when we changed our Hoop Dee ressies for our upcoming trip (went from 9 on one day, to 7 on another to finally getting 5:15 show on the day I wanted). All three of them said to pick my tickets up ASAP at our resort guest relations as table assignments are now being done in order of ticket pick up............. :confused3

I don't think it is when you pick them up at guest relations....I am pretty sure it is when the reservation is made. I had a problem with my tickets and was connected to the actual HDDR box office (the ones who actually do the table assignments), and they were able to see where I was, and where I would be on my new reservation. According to them, and they are the ones that do the seating, they assign them according to the order of the reservations and when the ADR is made. :teeth:

A CM told me a couple of weeks ago that I can book 2 years in advance and asked me if I wanted to do that now. I didn't. I actually hope it's been changed to 180 days because I'd rather not have to pay for the tickets 10 months in advance.

I made reservations 180 days out for our trip this June. We were right next to the stage!!! It was cool. :smokin:

But you never really had to call day by day. I've been making reservations since they started allowing it by phone sometime in the 80s I think, and I never once called day by day. Of course for something like CRT, it was necessary.

Anyone else remember when some PS were at 120, some at 60 and others at 30? It is so much easier now.

We've been to the HDD 8 times. We've gone the first night we arrived and the last night of our trip. We always make our reservations for the HDD 8-10 months in advance and the farthest from the stage we've sat is the third row. The seats are assigned when you make the reservation, like we've been told each time we go.

If it was based on when you picked up your ticket I can't imagine being in the front row the time we went our first day at WDW and picked our tickets up 45 minutes before the show right outside Pioneer Hall. The time we went the last night of our trip we picked the tickets up our day of arrival, 11 days before we went and we were in the 3rd row.

When you get your ticket for the HDD there is a 3 digit number the second or third line down from the top. That is your table assignment. As best I can figure, the first digit is the floor, either 0 for floor or 1 for balcony. The second digit is the row from the stage. The third is which table in the row. This year our ticket said 030 or 031 (I can read the wallet size picture well enough). We were in the 3rd row from the stage on the floor, first table on the left, facing the stage.
