I have two daughters ages 6 & 5 that I would like to take to one of these shows. I have been to HDD (and loved it) but my kids have not seen it and none of us have ever been to MBYB. We are staying at WL so both will be easy to get to.

Can those that have been to both please make a recommendation?

TIA

We have been to both shows. My children liked Mickey's Backyard BBQ better. If your girls are 5&6, they will have a blast. It is definitely geared for younger kids and they will be able to get alot of up close character interaction. Have fun!

Hoop Dee Doo! If they have never done it, they need to experience it!!

We have done both. But in September we did the Bar b Que and loved it. The food was good and plentiful, entertainment very good, and the beer and wine were all you could drink :thumbsup2 . It was a very good time for all, including my 4 year old DS. I would do this show again. I like the review. But it's not really my cup of tea. This was much more fun in my humble opinion.

Hoop Dee Do Revue. Here's my reasons why... The food is very similar. You do get character interaction at the BBQ, but it's only offered on Thursday nights and Saturday nights, there's no reserved seating, and it can be canceled due to weather.

That's a whole lot of uncertainty for me. Why not reserve the Hoop Dee Do and know your show will be a "go". Plus...there are 3 shows a night for the Hoop Dee Do. I prefer the dinner show anyway. It's very funny and gets everyone involved and going. We plan on doing the Hoop Dee Do this year when we go. Just need to have the reservation window extended...

My family has done HDDR three times and the BBQ once. We prefer HDDR and will be going again next month. The BBQ was chaotic. My DD isn't shy so she was okay for a while, then she just felt overwhelmed and wanted to leave. She was 5 at the time we went, last fall.

Have to agree with the PPs, we've done HDDR twice and BYBBQ once and didn't care for it. It was out of control kinda crazy. My boys can be shy and the characters didn't come to the tables, they stayed on the dance floor. I didn't like that we had a table far away from the dance floor, we had to take turns feeding one kid while one of us brought the other kid to the dance floor. It was just annoying, not enjoyable for us. Plus it was crowded, we couldn't let the kids walk around alone.

It was a cold chilly Nov evening when we went, that also put a damper on the evening since it's outside.

I wanted to love it, but just didn't.

Two days later, we went to the HDDR and my DS4 loved it!! He's still singing the song "hoop dee doo, hoop dee doo" :rolleyes1

I love the HDDR! I actually like the food, the show and I like that it's indoors so you don't have to worry about the weather and I like that it's table service, no getting up to a buffet!

Here are a couple of photos of our BYBBQ experience last fall...

You can see how chaotic the dance floor gets when the characters come out. My mom really enjoyed the band though.
