Is this really worth the time and money. We are doing Land and Sea in January, and have only 3 full days at WDW. We all think that we really want to see this, but unsure.

Thanks

I adore the Hoop-Dee-Doo and heartily recommend it to everyone who asks. It's a great show, with great food.

Three days doesn't leave much time for dinner shows. But you gotta eat somewhere, so if you really like singing and dancing and corny jokes, go for it.

:flower:

To me, no it is not worth the time or money. Is it a good show? Yes. Good food? Yes. But with only 3 days, I would never give up that much time in the parks (and probably one of the 3 evening shows) for the HDD especially since I think you will be able to get a much better meal for less money.

If you don't go to WDW very often and only have 3 days, I'd skip HDD. Its a fun show, but it will take up a significant amount of time (for dinner), and also isn't the easiest place to get to or from.

That said, if its a night when the parks aren't open very late, or park time isn't that high a priority for you, then I'd say go for it.

go for it. it is disney at its best. more to disney than just parks, you know.

Thanks so much for all your input. I'm leaning towards skipping, since we are short on time, but have heard so many great things, I would really love to take the kids to see it too! Decisions! Decisions!

If you go on a day that you're in the Magic Kingdom, you can take a boat from the MK to Ft. Wilderness. The boat docks very near Pioneer Hall (where the show is). If you go to the 5:00 show, you can take the boat back to the Magic Kingdom and see whatever you want at night.

You have to make a reservation for Hoop-Dee-Doo. A real reservation, where they hold a table just for you. Seats are assigned based on time of reservation. The sooner you call, the better your seats (although all the seats are good, and the performers also move about the hall. Your credit card is charged when you make the reservation.

I agree with the person who said there is more than parks to WDW. If I were down for one day, I'd hit the Hoop-Dee-Doo.

My entire family (me, dh, three kiddos ages 8, 6, & 2) loved the Hoop Dee Do. I mean LOVED it.   Totally worth it to us. My dh says it was the best meal he had while there.

The suggestion for doing the Hoop Dee Doo @ 5PM is great. Lets you sit down & take a break from the parks. The show is uplifting & fun. You may have more energy when you leave - use it to go to the park that's open for EMH that night. Transport available to all parks from Fort Wilderness makes it easy.

We did the 3 day land/4 day sea a few years back. We felt "crunched" for time with the kids wanting to see their favorite parks, rides, etc. We did not do any shows or even water parks, b/c we felt we would have enough swimming with the cruise aspect so we targeted the parks only. We did do some character meals that fit nicely in our schedule. Also, keep in mind that the cruise ship has excellent shows every nite before/after dinner depending on your dining time--the entertainment onboard is excellent (and included in your price) I have never been to HDDR before--we are going for the first time this coming April. Have fun!!!

You have a lot more energy when you leave unless you over-imbibe on the all-you-can-drink Sangria.. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I would strongly recommend it. We did it the first time we went to WDW and were there only 3 days. We loved it and have been back several times since. We are going again on our next trip.

I went to it when we stayed in Fort Wilderness Lodge a few years back, I booked it the day after I arrived at the hotel for any date they had and they had a date 6 days in… I enjoyed it, even though some people told me it would be too American for me to appreciate, they where wrong. Food wasn’t amazing or anything like that but the whole show and food thing together made it an enjoyable night. Also we meet a lot of nice American’s outside before we went in, one of the few places where people actually chatted to each other as they waited. Well load of drunk New Yorkers chatted away to us at downtown Disney but that’s a whole other story LOL ;-)

Our group of ten just got back, and we loved it! I got lots of compliments for arranging such a fun dinner. The boat is easy transportation, and you will get a nice break off of your feet. We all agree that Hoop Dee Doo is a treasured trip memory for us :earsboy:

We are going for the 8th time in June and love the show (obviously). Only 3 days at WDW may make it tight, but the suggestion to go to the 5 PM show the day you go to MK and then go back after the show is a good one. We usually go to a water park, the HDD and then the MK for the evening. Makes for a great day.

We are going to the HDD for the first time in April. We also are going to the 5:00 show so we can go back to MK after. We will be there for 9 days though. My old boss just raves about HDD. They have seen it many many times. We have been
to Disney twice & have never tried it so we figured it was about time. :cool1:
